Yonezu Kenshi, Mariya Takeuchi, Official HIGE DANdism, and Soken Masayoshi Top the Billboard Japan Charts for the Week of 9/9 – 9/15

This week, Yonezu Kenshi topped the Hot 100 single chart with his single “Uma to Shika”, with 42,603 points.

Mariya Takeuchi topped the Hot Albums chart for the second consecutive week with her best album “Turntable.”

Official HIGE DANdism topped the Streaming Songs chart for the 17th consecutive week with their single “Pretender.”

Kenshi also topped the Download Songs chart for the fifth consecutive week with “Uma to Shika.”

Soken Masayoshi topped the Download Albums chart with his new soundtrack “SHADOWBRINGERS:FINAL FANTASY XIV Original Soundtrack.”

Arashi, Mariya Takeuchi, Yonezu Kenshi, Soken Masayoshi, and Official HIGE DANdism top the Oricon Charts for the Week of 9/9 – 9/15

This week, Arashi topped the Combined Single chart with their new single “BRAVE”, with 667,615 points in its first week.

Mariya Takeuchi topped the Combined Album chart with her best album “Turntable”, with 31,651 points in its second week.

Arashi also topped the Single chart with “BRAVE”, selling 667,615 copies in its first week.

Yonezu Kenshi topped the Digital Single chart for the fifth consecutive week with his digital single “Uma to Shika”, selling 74,178 copies in its fifh week.

Soken Masayoshi topped the Digital Album chart with his new soundtrack “SHADOWBRINGERS:FINAL FANTASY XIV Original Soundtrack”, selling 3,059 copies in its first week.

Official HIGE DANdism topped the Streaming chart for the 17th consecutive week with their song “Pretender”, with 3,714,277 streams in its 20th week.

Flower to Disband

Flower member Nakajima Mio has announced that she is pregnant and engaged! Her soon to be husband is FC Machida Zelvia player Togashi Cayman. Mio will give birth next year. With this announcement of her pregancy and impending marriage, she also announced her retirement from the entertainment industry, saying that she thought about herself as a woman, and decided to leave her current path and set off a new one.

After talks between the members of Flower and LDH staff in light of Mio’s retirement, it was decided that the group would disband at the end of this month. The other four members will continue their careers in the entertainment industry.

King Gnu Wins Best Video Award at the MTV VMAJ 2019

Tonight, MTV VMAJ 2019 -THE LIVE- was held at Shinkiba STUDIO COAST in Tokyo. This was the live portion of the MTV VMAJ 2019. The big winner of the night was King Gnu, who took home the night’s top prize, Best Video Award, for “Hakujitsu”. King Gnu was also the winner of Best New Artist Video -Japan- for that video.

Two more awards that weren’t previously announced were given out at the show. BALLISTIK BOYZ were given the Rising Star Award, sharing it with the previously announced winner, THE BOYZ. Foorin won MTV Breakthrough Song for their song “Paprika.” Some of the winners appeared in person, while others sent in taped messages.

The show featured performances by hosts Hinatazaka46, GLAY, King Gnu, Daichi Miura, BiSH, Foorin, BALLISTIK BOYZ, INTERSECTION, and Sanari. Check out photos from the show below!

KREVA to Release New Album “AFTERMIXTAPE”

KREVA is currently celebrating the 15th anniversary of his solo debut. He’s had several releases so far this year as part of this celebration. The next release is a new album, “AFTERMIXTAPE”, out September 18. This is his first studio album since February 2017’s “Uso to Bonno.” The album includes collaborations with JQ from Nulbarich, RHYMESTER‘s Utamaru, and Kobayashi Kentaro. The album will come in three editions: two limited editions (CD+Blu-Ray / CD+DVD) and a regular edition (CD only). Check out more information in this release below!
