This week, SixTONES topped the Combined Single chart with their new single “NEW ERA”, with 448,278 points in its first week.

Sutopuri topped the Combined Album chart with their new album “Strawberry Prince”, with 231,685 points in its first week.

SiXTONES also topped the Single chart with “NEW ERA”, selling 446,443 copies in its first week.

Sutopuri also topped the Album chart with “Strawberry Prince”, selling 229,830 copies in its first week.

LiSA topped the Digital Single chart for the fifth consecutive week with her single “Homura”, selling 62,300 copies its fifth week.

TAEMIN topped the Digital Album chart with his new album “Never Gonna Dance Again : Act 2”, selling 2,193 copies in its first week.

LiSA also topped the Streaming chart for the fifth consecutive week with “Homura”, with 14,182,108 streams in its fifth week.

GQ JAPAN has revealed its “GQ MEN OF THE YEAR 2020”! The award is given to people who have shown great success this year regardless of their field. Winners this year include SixTONES, Snow Man, Hoshino Gen, Eito, and Naomi Osaka.

The award show will streamed live today on GQ JAPAN’s YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok accounts at 7:30 PM JST. All of the winner will be present, with the exception of Naomi, who will appear via video. Eito will also perform his hit song “Kousui.”

Exciting news for SixTONES fans! It has been announced that Hokuto Matsumura will be starring in the upcoming NTV drama series titled Eyes: Kanshi Sosahan. Leading the drama is none other than KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi.

Matsumura will play the role of Komai, a genius hacker who is capable of breaking into almost any security system. He commented that since this is the first time he will be co-starring with his senior Kamenashi, he will greatly enjoy this experience.

As recently reported, Avex is in trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It recently asked about 100 employees age 40 and over to voluntarily retire in an effort to cut costs.

The company is also looking to sell its Tokyo headquarters. The sales negotiations for the 18 story building, which opened in December 2017, are being handled by the Canadian real estate fund BentallGreenOak.

Under the guidance of its bank, Avex is currently undergoing restructuring. Due to the pandemic, concert revenue fell dramatically, resulting in ¥3.2 billion loss during the April to September quarter of this year.

“This time is so bad. We are in such a crisis where it’s uncertain if we can make it out of this year. I pretended not to see it though,” said an Avex producer, shoulders slouched in defeat.

He continued, speaking to something that a lot of observers of the Japanese music industry have noticed for years. “While it is true LDH’s EXILE and Johnny & Associates’ Snow Man are under Avex, sales for other acts are low. In the past, Avex had popular acts such as Komuro Family, Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Koda Kumi that could keep the company afloat, but the company failed to nurture its next generation. Avex’s business model became out of date in the age of the internet.”
