Popular rock band Mr.Children have just announced that they’ll be providing their new song “Starting Over” as the theme for the upcoming animated movie “Bakemono no Ko” (“The Boy and the Beast”). The film is the latest work by famed director Hosoda Mamoru, known for movies such as “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”, “Summer Wars”, and “Wolf Children”.
“Bakemono no Ko” will tell the story of a young boy named Kyuuta (played by Miyazaki Aoi & Sometani Shota) who wanders from the Human realm of Shibuya into the Bakemono realm known as Juutengai. While lost there the boy encounters one of the realm’s residents, a Bakemono named Kumatetsu (Yakusho Koji), and becomes his disciple.
The film will enter Japanese theaters on July 11th, with screenings for other countries scheduled later in the year, but you can catch a glimpse of what’s to come in the trailer below. The video also provides a preview of “Starting Over”, which will be included in Mr.Children’s new album “REFLECTION” due out this week on June 4th.
Well known pop vocal group GReeeeN have revealed that they’ve chosen to team up with Kirin’s Namacha Tea brand for their latest music video. The PV for “Natsu no Ne” (“Sound of Summer”) features the product’s panda mascot taking part in various different summertime activities which are common in Japan, from blowing bubbles to attending a traditional festival.
In addition, GReeeeN will also be working with Kirin for Namacha’s latest advertising campaign, appearing as a series of panda puppets (alongside the mascot) labeled KIReeeeeN. Those who purchase the tea in Japan will be entered into a lottery to receive a special “KIReeeeeN Finger Puppet”.

AKB48 member Watanabe Mayu will be releasing her first solo single in 2 years, titled “Deai no Tsuzuki”, scheduled to be released on June 10. The song currently serves as the theme song for her drama Tatakau! Shoten Girl. The single includes the song “Onna no Ko Nara”, tie-up song for fashion brand Avail’s CM ‘Avail 2014 Fall Winter Watanabe Mayu’.
Watanabe sings as her drama character ‘Kitamura Aki’. In addition, the music video was shot at Junkudo Kichijouji Store which is also the location for the drama. Check out the PV below.
Minami kun no Koibito will be adapted into a TV drama after 11 years. The drama casts Nakagawa Taishi (Water Polo Yankees, Jigoku Sensei Nube) and Yamamoto Maika (Assassination Classroom) in their first starring role. The drama Minami no Koibito: My Little Lover will air on Fuji TV this year.
The story depicting love and cohabitation life of high school students Susumu Minami and Chiyomi Horikiri whose height suddenly shrunk into 16 cm. The drama is based from the manga of the same name by Shungiku Uchida. It has been adapted in 1990 (Masaki Kudou / Ishida Hikari), 1994 (Takeda Shinji / Takahashi Yumiko) and 2004 (Ninomiya Kazunari / Fukada Kyoko)
The drama will be directed by Kazuya Konaka and written by Yuka Arai from “Itazura na Kiss 2~Love in Tokyo”.

After “Kaguya” in January and their album “White”, NEWS is back with their newest single “Chumu Chumu”!
NEWS’ second single of 2015 is a platonic love song with “India” as its theme. The word “chumu” means “kiss” in India. This is a scorching hot upbeat song that will have you singing, dancing, and having fun with everyone this summer! The single will be released on June 24.
The costumes are designed by member Masuda Takahisa. Check out the released tracklist of the single below. No official single covers and previews out yet, but billboard ads for the single gives the first glimpse to the group’s latest release.
