Shinsei Kamattechan Release PV for Re-Recorded Version of “Jibun Rashiku”

On June 24, Shinsei Kamattechan will release their first best album. It is titled “Best Kamattechan.” The album celebrates the 5th anniversary of the band’s debut album, “Tomodachi wo Koroshite Made.” The album comes in 2 editions: a CD only Regular Edition and a 2CD+DVD Limited Edition. The Regular Edition and the first CD of the Limited Edition both contain 15 songs that the band members chose for remastering, plus a newly recorded version of the song “Jibun Rashiku” from their 2010 album “Minna Shine.” The second CD of the Limited Edition features collaborations with other acts. Shinsei Kamattechan is joined by the likes of Dempagumi.inc and Sakaki Izumi to remake some of their old songs. tofubeats remixes one of the old songs as well. The band’s previous collaborations with Kawamoto Makoto and Ogame Asuka are also featured on this CD. The DVD that comes with the Limited Edition features 40 minutes of footage from the final show of Shinsei Kamattechan’s 2014 tour.

Shinsei Kamattechan recently released the music video for the re-recorded version of “Jibun Rashiku.” The video mixes clips of the band performing along with the clips of a young woman wandering around Tokyo. Soundscan Chart for the Week of 5/24 – 5/31

On the single side, Hoshino Gen topped the chart with “SUN”, with its CD+DVD Limited Edition selling 51,424 copies.  With this 1 edition, “SUN” is the best selling single this week.

On the album side, Superfly took the top spot with “WHITE”, with its 2CD Limited Edition selling 60,866 copies. However, the best selling album this week was μ’s’ “μ’s Best Album Best Live! Collection II.” Between its 2 editions, “μ’s Best Album Best Live! Collection II” sold 79704 copies, making it the best selling album this week.

AKB48 and μ’s top the weekly Oricon charts! 5/25-5/31

The Oricon physical music sales charts for the week of May 25 to 31 has been released!

Idol super group AKB48 tops the charts for the second week in the row with their summer single “Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai” selling an additional 60,997 units on top of last week’s sales of 1,673,211 copies.

From the anime Love Live!, μ’s Best Album Best Live Collection II topped the albums chart with 85,000 copies sold, the first anime character group to top the weekly album chart since K-ON!’s Ho-kago Tea Time did back in 2010.

Shishido Kavka Releases Short PV for “Bane no Uta”

On June 17, Shishido Kavka is set to release her new mini album “K5.” This release sees her working with a variety of artists, including Saito Kazuyoshi, YO-KING, and KenKen. She recently released the short music video for the song “Bane no Uta.” It is a collaboration with Komoto Hiroto of The Cro-Magnons. The upbeat rock song’s video takes place in an emptied swimming pool. People dance around Kavka as she performs the song. TBS Announces First Bits of Information About This Year’s Ongaku no Hi

Ongaku no Hi is TBS’ annual midsummer music special. The first one took place in 2011 after the incidents of March 11 in an effort to celebrate Japan through music. This year’s edition is the 5th one and it will take place on June 27. Nakai Masahiro of SMAP will be hosting for the 5th year in a row. He’ll share hosting duties this year with TBS announcer Azumi Shinichiro.

The first set of performers announced are SMAP, AKB48, aiko, Ikimonogakari, Kis-My-Ft2, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and Yuzu. More will be announced in the future. Besides the performances, there will be live reports from Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima Prefectures. There will also be clips from TBS music shows of the past.

Kis-my-Ft2’s Fujigaya Taisuke and actress Takimoto Miori are dating

Shukan Bunshun’s latest scoop reveals that Kis-my-Ft2’s Fujigaya Taisuke and actress Takimoto Miori are dating. Takimoto visits Fujigaya’s apartment once a week. Shukan Bunshun published a photo of her heading to his apartment.

According to officials, the relationship between the two developed into dating after co-starring in the TBS drama “Ikemen Desu Ne” in 2011. As reported by Nikkan Sports, they are dating for about two and a half years. They were seen sporting matching outfits and luxury brand accessories and were spotted dating in Kanagawa, Enoshima. In May last year, they were seen at a Teppanyaki shop in Tokyo.

Fujigaya is a central member of Kis-my-Ft2. Takimoto also is the vocalist of the female band LAGOON.

Regarding the relationship, agencies for both stated that they will not comment on their personal matters.

Death Note Drama Casts Misa, Light’s Father and More

Death Note drama previously announced its main cast for the roles of Yagami Light, L and N (Near). The drama version will adopt changes in the characters and story. Light will be an ordinary university student, different from the genius character in the manga and movie. He has no special talents or ambitions and will become a dark hero after getting the Death Note. L’s eccentricities, such as his eating habits will be removed. He becomes a character who is hard to approach, a rationalist whote hates doing any unnecessary things.

More cast has also been announced for the drama adaptation. Character visuals are also out. The first episode will air on July 5.

Japan Box Office Ranking (Week of May 30 – 31)

New movie entry Shinjuku Swan took the top spot from Cinderella, ending the latter’s reign at the top for 5 consecutive weeks.
