Sandaime J Soul Brothers wows with MV for Summer Madness

Not too long ago, Sandaime J Soul Brothers, revealed the music for Summer Madness.

This song is the second collaboration with an international act. In their last single, STORM RIDERS, they collaborated with Guns N’ Roses‘s guitarist, SLASH. This time they will be working with the top EDM DJ act, AFROJACK. This song comes almost a year after their last summer release, R.Y.U.S.E.I., which was also an EDM song. The song will be used as the CM song for ANA’s Summer Travel Rate.

The song features the members of the group dancing on stage infront of a dj booth, being operated by the members of PKCZ (DJ DARUMA, DJ MAKIDAI and VERBAL). It also features beautiful scenery, a diverse group of bikini-clad women, they even show off some of Japan’s culture with kimono clad women.

Yuzu to release new single in August and new album in the Fall

Famous folk/pop duo Yuzu have just revealed that they will be releasing a new single later this summer on August 12th.  “Owaranai Uta” will be the group’s 43rd single in total, with the title track currently serving as the theme song for FujiTV’s popular morning show “Mezamashi TV”.

In addition, the duo have also confirmed that they’ll be releasing a new studio album, their first in right around a year-and-a-half, at some point during Autumn this year.  In support of this release Yuzu will be embarking on an Arena Tour starting in late October and concluding in early January of next year.

Oricon’s OnlyStar Magazine Releases Its National Favorability Rankings for 2015

OnlyStar is a magazine owned by Oricon. They recently surveyed 400 people to measure the favorability of various male and female acts. These results were then broken down into 4 categories: female soloists, male soloists, female groups, and male groups. aiko topped the female soloists category, while Masaharu Fukuyama topped the male one. Momoiro Clover Z topped the female group category, while Arashi topped the male one. See the rest of the top 10 for each category after the jump!

CDTV to Have a Special Episode During Ongaku no Hi

As previously reported, TBS’ midyear music show Ongaku no Hi will take place on June 27. The show will start at 2PM JST and its ending time is not yet determined. More performers have been added to the show. They are Kaientai, Hiromi Go, Sukima Switch, SEKAI NO OWARI, Ken Hirai, and Porno Graffitti. More are set to be announced at a later date.

During this year’s Ongaku no Hi, there will be a special episode of CDTV titled CDTV Special! This show will air from 11:45 PM – 5 AM JST. Several acts have been announced for this special. See who they are after the jump!

R&B singer AISHA to release new EP!

One of Japan’s favorite R&B songstresses is back! It has been reported that singer AISHA is set to release her second album early winter. But before that, she will be dropping an EP on you guys! For the past year, she has been making guest appearances and performing at events. And now she’s ready to put out new music for the masses.

This release comes after switching labels to SPACE SHOWER MUSIC! For this release, she will be working with Japan’s R&B scene’s top producer, Ryosuke Imai. He’s known for his works like Namie Amuro feat. DOUBLE‘s Black Diamond and ZEEBRA‘s Perfect Queen.

The EP will come in two versions, CANDY LOVE, which will have four new songs, and CANDY LOVE+ which has four new songs and six collab songs that were prevaiously released. The latter version is restricted to TSUTAYA rental and online mail order only. The EP will be released on July 22nd, so don’t forget to pick it up and be on the look out for her second album.

THE MUSIC DAY -Ongaku wa Taiyou da.- announces Preliminary Line-up for this Year’s Show

Popular broadcaster NTV have recently revealed a significant amount of information about their yearly summer music special “THE MUSIC DAY”.  The subtitle for this year’s show will be “Ongaku wa Taiyou da.” (“Music is the Sun”) and it will include the performance of over 100 songs during its 11 hour runtime.

Among those acts who have been confirmed to be participating are the wildly popular Sandaime J Soul Brothers and SEKAI NO OWARI, the legendary Mr.Children, the up-and-coming Gesu no Kiwami Otome. and KANA-BOON, and even the well-known band ZOO (minus EXILE HIRO), who will be giving their first performance in quite some time.  In addition, the program will also see the revival of several special projects such as the guitar duo Shigeru Sakazaki (composed of THE ALFEE’s Sakazaki Konosuke and TOKIO’s Joshima Shigeru) and the rearrangement and performance of several classic songs by Yuzu, Kobayashi AkiraHitoto Yo, and Hirai Ken at the show’s Symphony Stage.

This year’s “THE MUSIC DAY” is set to broadcast on July 4th starting at noon Japan time and will be hosted by Arashi’s Sakurai Sho live from Chiba’s Makuhari Messe.  For the full list of 66 artists who have been announced to be performing thus far, please read on below and look forward to continued updates as this special draws closer.
