Kalafina documentary gets limited release in Japan

If you are a fan of pop trio Kalafina and are planning a trip to Japan this spring, don’t miss the release of their new documentary film, titled ‘Kalafina 10th Anniversary Film ~Yume ga Tsumugu Kagayaki no Harmony’. The documentary will open in selected theaters on March 30th, and it will run for two weeks.

Oricon unveils their Yearly Sales Rankings for 2017

Today statistics-tracking company Oricon Inc. published its complete end of the year report, which reveals all of the sales data that it collected for the year 2017.  This includes the five top earning acts for the year, as well as the yearly single, album, digital album, music DVD, and music Blu-ray charts.

This year’s top five selling acts, and their total gross for the year (in yen) are as follows:

  1. Arashi (¥10,868,000,000)
  2. Namie Amuro (¥9,428,000,000)
  3. SMAP (¥8,816,000,000)
  4. Nogizaka46 (¥8,055,000,000)
  5. AKB48 (¥7,256,000,000)

Namie Amuro topped this year’s Album chart with “Finally”, while AKB48 had the year’s highest selling single with “Negaigoto no Mochigusare”.  Meanwhile, Arashi topped both the Music DVD and the Music Blu-ray chart with their “ARASHI LIVE TOUR 2016-2017 Are You Happy?”.  Last but not least, Mr.Children found themselves on top of the year’s Digital Album chart with their compilation record “Mr.Children 1992-2002 Thanksgiving 25”.

Hey! Say! JUMP releases “White Love” music video

Hey! Say! JUMP released their latest single “White Love” last December 20. The song is currently as used as the theme song of the movie “Miseinen Dakedo Kodomo Janai” starring member Chinen Yuri, Sexy Zone’s Nakajima Kento and Taira Yuna.

Dressed in black suits, the group performs a cool choreography for the love song in the music video. A White Love x Misekodo movie version PV featuring behind the scenes of the movie filming is also up at the movie’s official website.

Yuzu to release New Album “BIG YELL” in April

At the conclusion of their ‘final’ Winter Solstice live, folk-pop duo Yuzu announced that they will be releasing a brand new album titled “BIG YELL” next year on April 4th.  This will be the group’s fifteenth studio album and their first since the release of “TOWA” back in January of 2016.

“BIG YELL” will include the duo’s previously released tracks “Tatta“, “Canaria“, “Ai Koso“, and “Koi, Hajikemashita” as well as a number of new songs.  In addition, Yuzu will also be embarking on an Arena Tour in support of the record starting in late April and concluding in July.
