Johnny & Associates creates official Youtube account “Johnny’s Jr. Channel”

A month after lifting its ban on online images, Johnny & Associates now announced it will be opening up an official Youtube account.

Johnny’s Jimusho announced on March 4 that it will open an official Youtube account “Johnny’s Jr. Channel” for select Johnnys Jr. groups which will start delivering content on March 21. Dramas and movie trailers featuring Johnnys talents have been uploaded on the site but this will be the first official Youtube account opened by Johnnys.

The account is now open with an uploaded trailer. The channel info is both in Japanese and English with the description “All of Johnny’s YouTube content are available to viewers globally.”

JYOCHO grow in touch with nature in their PV for “Tagai no Uchuu”

Math-rockers JYOCHO have announced that they will be releasing their first single, titled “Tagai no Uchuu e.p”, later this month on March 21st.  The lead song has already been selected as the ending theme for the currently airing anime “The Junji Ito Collection”, an anthology series which endeavors to adapt a number of the horror author’s shorter works.

In support of this release, the group have now chosen to upload the music video for “Tagai no Uchuu” to their label’s Youtube channel.  The video features a combination of the group’s performance of the track with time lapsed images of growing crystals, the latter intended to portray the parallel universe suggested in the song’s title.

Winners of the SPACE SHOWER MUSIC AWARDS 2018 Announced

On March 1, the SPACE SHOWER MUSIC AWARDS 2018 took place. The big prize of the night, ARTIST OF THE YEAR, went to Yuzu. PEOPLE’S CHOICE went to Hoshino Gen. Ken Hirai’s “Nonfiction” won VIDEO OF THE YEAR. Hi-STANDARD’s “The Gift” won ALBUM OF THE YEAR, while SONG OF THE YEAR went to DAOKO x Yonezu Kenshi’s “Uchiage Hanabi.” DAOKO also won BEST BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST. Yonezu Kenshi won BEST MALE ARTIST, while Namie Amuro won BEST FEMALE ARTIST. BEST GROUP ARTIST went to ONE OK ROCK. Ed Sheeran was named BEST INTERNATIONAL ARTIST. See who else won below!

Mari Yaguchi opens up on past relationship with Shun Oguri

Former Morning Musume member Mari Yaguchi recently appeared on an episode of Nakai no Mado, a variety show hosted by Masahiro Nakai.

She was joined by fellow Morning Musume OG Yuko Nakazawa, Kaori Iida, Asuka Fukuda, Hitomi Yoshizawa, Rika Ishikawa, and Nozomi Tsuji for a special episode. Throughout the episode they went through the main history of Morning Musume, stopping to discuss various important events such as member graduations.

When the chronology entered 2005, the series of events surrounding Yaguchi’s graduation were told. Yaguchi is one of the few Morning Musume members who never received a graduation ceremony. In the past, television shows used footage from her final performance as a member of the Morning Musume sub-group Tanpopo as a placeholder. The deciding factor for her withdrawal from the group was a “passionate” relationship she shared with actor Shun Oguri.

The Winners of The Japan Gold Disc Award 2018 Announced

The Recording Industry Association of Japan has announced the winners of this year’s edition of The Japan Gold Disc Award. These awards are based on sales from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. Namie Amuro won the top prize, Artist Of The Year. This is her first time winning this award since 1997. She sold 2.3 million albums and 1.4 million downloads last year. Her farewell best album, “Finally”, won Album Of The Year.

AKB48’s “Negaigoto no Mochigusare” won Single Of The Year. AKB48 has won Single Of The Year eight years in a row now. DAOKO x Yonezu Kenshi’s “Uchiage Hanabi” won Song Of The Year By Download. NGT48 won New Artist Of The Year.
