We’re back with this week’s edition of Oricon Flashback! This is where we look back on what topped the charts this week 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years ago. Think of it as a way to reminisce and learn about the past of Japanese music.
Last August, Foorin debuted with the single “Paprika.” The song was written, composed, and arranged by Yonezu Kenshi. To mark the first anniversary of “Paprika”, Kenshi decided to make a self-cover of the song. His version of “Paprika” now serves as the theme song for NHK’s “Minna no Uta” for August and September.
The new version of “Paprika” was met with great reponse by the “Minna no Uta” viewers. They demanded the full version of the song and its accompanying video, which featured animation by Kato Takashi, who also drew the cover art for Foorin’s “Paprika.” Kenshi has now released the full video, which can be seen below!
