SUPER☆GiRLS attend sales event for their new photobook “Revolution”

12 member girl group SUPER☆GiRLS attended a sales event on September 14th for their new photobook “Revolution”.

The photobook was shot in Hawaii this past April and is the first photobook since new members: Kome Watanabe (16), Nana Asakawa (15), and Risa Uchimura (14) joined. It was also reported that during the photoshoot Hikaru Watanabe (20), Kome Watanabe, and Risa Uchimura almost drowned.

Leader Rika Shimura (21) gave PR for the book, “We left for the shoot almost immediately after the new members joined, so it was a little awkward when we got there because we didn’t know each other well. So please check that out in the book.”

Morning Musume ’14 celebrate their 17th anniversary

On September 14th, idol group Morning Musume ’14 celebrated their 17th anniversary with 1,500 fans at Shinagawa Stellar Ball in Tokyo.

The group’s name ‘Morning Musume’ was officially announced on September 14, 1997. Since then many members of come and gone. There have been a total of 34 members in Morning Musume and the group is currently in their 11th generation.

At the event the group performed their new song “TIKI BUN” for the first time. The single will be released on October 15th. After the performance the members read a letter from their producer Tsunku (45) who is currently under medical care due to an illness. The letter revealed that on Tsunku’s birthday, October 29th, the group will be releasing their 14th album and on September 30th they will be performing at the Budokan and unveiling their newest members for the first time.

Introducing NHK’s Sherlock Gakuen

The story of Sherlock Holmes has been revised and rewritten and re-adapted so many times but now we get to see him in another form: He is a puppet. NHK’s new TV series follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in a London Boarding school. Adapted by playwright and director Koki Mitani, this series follows the teenage Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Sherlock Gakuen.

Singer ASKA found guilty of Drug Use

The verdict is out for singer ASKA’s case of drug use. On September 12, the singer, whose real name is Shigeaki Miyazaki, was given a three year prison term, suspended for four years, after being found guilty of using illegal stimulants (methamphetamine) and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy. He was also convicted of possessing synthetic narcotics.

Aska, and an acquaintance Kasumi Tochinai, were arrested last May due to suspicions of drug possesion in Tochinai’s apartment. Police investigations indicates that the said stimulants had been detected in Aska’s urine and illegal drugs – 90 MDMA pills and white powder believed to be ground MDMA- were found in his apartment.

Star-Studded Cast for “Murder on the Orient Express” SP Drama

A press conference was held on the 14th for the 55th anniversary special drama of Fuji TV “Murder on the Orient Express”, to be broadcasted on 2 consecutive nights in the New Year of 2015. The drama will feature Nomura Mansai, Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari, Anne, Matsushima Nanako, Tamaki Hiroshi and Sawamura Ikki among others.

The drama is based from the original novel of the Queen of Mystery Agatha Christie, which was published in 1934. Playwright of the SP is written by Mitani Koki and the story setting has been changed to the early Showa era. “Murder on the Orient Express” is about a murder that occurred while on a luxury sleeper train called Orient Express.  The first night of the drama will be faithful to the original. The second night will reconstruct the story based from the point of view of the criminal.
