Perfume Releases PV for “STAR TRAIN”

On October 28, Perfume will release their new single, “STAR TRAIN.” The ladies have now released the music video for the song. In the clip, they join together and watch behind the scenes footage from their world tour from last year. Check it out after the jump!

Nishino Kana to Simultaneously Release 2 Coupling Best Albums

On November 18, Nishino Kana will release 2 best albums, “Secret Collection ~RED~” and “Secret Collection ~GREEN~.” These albums will contain various coupling songs spanning Kana’s career. The songs on these albums were selected by her fans via an online vote.

Each album will come in a CD+DVD Limited Edition and a CD only Regular Edition. Each album will also have 2 new songs.The new songs on “Secret Collection ~RED~” are titled “This Is Love” and “UNZARI.” The new songs on “Secret Collection ~GREEN~” are titled “No.1” and “This Is How We Do It.” “No.1” serves as the theme song for the new Nippon TV drama “Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku”, which premiered on October 10. 

The DVD that comes with the Limited Edition of “Secret Collection ~RED~” contains footage from a Christmas concert Kana did, while the one that comes with the Limited Edition of “Secret Collection ~GREEN~” contains footage from a Halloween concert she did.

FAKY Releases Group Teaser Video

Yesterday, FAKY revealed the teaser video for their original member, Anna. Today, they released another teaser video, this time for the whole group. It appears that FAKY will reform as a 4-member group as opposed to the original 5-member group. The new teaser combines footage from each member’s teaser. More of the song that is featured in all the teasers is also heard. The countdown on their website ends tomorrow. What will be revealed?

The Recording Industry Association of Japan Releases Its Digital Certifications for September

Three songs from this year were certified Platinum for selling 250,000 copies: Leo Ieiri’s “Kimi ga Kureta Natsu”, back number’s “Heroine”, and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “I Really Like You.”

Five songs from this year were certified Gold for selling 100,000 copies: Sandaime J Soul Brothers’s “STORM RIDERS feat. SLASH”, Shiina Ringo’s “Nagaku Mijikai Matsuri”, SEKAI NO OWARI’s “ANTI-HERO”, Nishino Kana’s “Torisetsu”, and Hoshino Gen’s “SUN.”

Two songs were certified Million for selling 1,000,000 copies: EXILE’s “Rising Sun” and Koda Kumi’s “Ai no Uta.”

Hoshino Gen to Explore Black Music on New Album + Radio Rip of “Week End”

On December 2, Hoshino Gen will release his new album, “YELLOW DANCER.” This is his first album since May 2013’s “Stranger.” “YELLOW DANCER” will include the singles “Jigoku de Naze Warui”, “Crazy Crazy”, “Sakura no Mori”, and “SUN.” It will also include the song “Snow Men”, which was previously used in a short film for cosmetics company Shiseido. The album will come in 4 editions: a CD+Blu-ray+Booklet Limited Edition, a CD+DVD+Booklet Limited Edition, a CD+Booklet Regular Edition, and a CD only Regular Edition.

Gen is a fan of black music and he will be using some of the genres under that umbrella (including soul, jazz, R&B, and jump blues) on “YELLOW DANCER.” He will fuse these genres into the sound he already does.

Today, Gen premiered a new song from his album on several radio stations. It is titled “Week End”, and it will serve as the theme song for the Fuji TV show “Mezamashi Doyoubi.” The upbeat, feel good song is an example of Gen’s incorporation of black music into his sound. Yuzu reveal Music Video for the Title Track of their Upcoming Album

Folk/pop duo Yuzu recently confirmed that they will be releasing their upcoming studio album “TOWA” at some point in January of 2016.  “TOWA” will be the group’s thirteenth full-length album together and is currently planned to include their previously released singles “Pocket”, “OLA!!”, “Kakeru”, and “Owaranai Uta” as well as a number of new songs.

In advance of this release, Yuzu have chosen to make the album’s title track available on Japanese digital download services starting today (October 20th), and as such have also published the song’s music video to their official Youtube channel.  The PV for “TOWA” takes place in a world devastated by disaster, the young girl who remains forced to seek solace from the destruction in the only place she can:  her imagination.

You’ll find TOWA’s reality-bending music video just after the cut, so be sure to stick around just a bit longer.

Suga Shikao to release his First New Album in nearly Six Years

Funk influenced singer-songwriter Suga Shikao has revealed that he will finally be releasing a brand new studio album on January 20th of next year.  This new release will be titled “THE LAST” and is set to be his first full album since “FUNKASTiC” hit store shelves back in May of 2010.

“THE LAST” has been in the works since earlier this year when Suga began collaborating with famed producer Kobayashi Takeshi, the latter known primarily for his work with acts like Mr.Children and Salyu.  At current the album is planned to include 11 tracks in total, among them his previously released single “Astride” and a new song titled “Furueru Te”.

Nana Mizuki to Release New Album “SMASHING ANTHEMS”

On November 11, Nana Mizuki will release her new album, “SMASHING ANTHEMS.” It will include the singles “Kindan no Resistance” (in an extended form), “Eden”, “Angel Blossom”, and “Exterminate.” “SMASHING ANTHEMS” will also include the song “Glorious Break”, which was used as an ending theme and insert song in the third season of the anime “Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX.”

“SMASHING ANTHEMS” will come in 3 editions: a CD+Blu-ray Limited Edition, a CD+DVD Limited Edition, and a CD only Regular Edition. The Limited Edition DVD / Blu-ray will include live performances from 2002 – 2005.
