Trailer for Kento Yamazaki & Mitsuki Takahata’s “Otaku Love” film receives millions of views in 1 day

The trailer for the highly anticipated film “Wotaku ni Koi ha Muzukashii” ( Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) has been released, and has made quite a splash on the internet.

The trailer uploaded by Oricon on YouTube has already surpassed 1 million views in just one day. Views from other YouTube official uploads, and other social media profiles bring the total views into the millions. Top actors Kento Yamazaki and Mitsuki Takahata take on the leading roles for Wotaku.

Originally based off of a 2014 webcomic, Wotaku follows a 26-year-old office lady named Narumi Momose (Mitsuki). Recently joining a new company, she meets her childhood friend Hirotaka Nifuji (Kento) who just so happens to work at the same place as her now.

Hirotaka is handsome and does well at his job, he also just so happens to be a gaming otaku. Narumi herself is also a very good looking otaku, what a coincidence!, but she’s into BL/Yaoi. As both are otaku, she’s able to open up about her interests to him. After learning more about each other Narumi asks Hirotaka to be his girlfriend, saying how it would be nice for them to be an “otaku couple”.

Things aren’t as easy as it seems as both face many challenges with their otaku relationship.

Supporting roles will be played by Takumi Saito, Nanao, and Tsuyoshi Muro. “Wotaku ni Koi ha Muzukashii” will be released nationwide in Japan on February 7th, 2020.
