Ryuichi Sakamoto Is Nominated for a Golden Globe and Is Interviewed by The FADER

Yesterday, the nominations for The 73rd Golden Globes were announced. Ryuichi Sakamoto was nominated along with Alva Noto for their score for “The Revenant”, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. He has previously won 2 Golden Globes for his film scores, for 1987’s “The Last Emperor” and for 1990’s “The Sheltering Sky.” The awards ceremony will take place on January 10 in Beverly Hills, California.

In related news, American music magazine The FADER recently interviewed Ryuichi Sakamoto. The interview discussed his work on “The Revenant”, his thoughts on Japanese music, his thoughts on electronic music, and his upcoming work (which includes the score of the upcoming film “Haha to Kuraseba”). That interview can be found here.
