Last night, UK fans voted metal-idol group Babymetal as the Best Live Act at the AIM Independent Music Awards.
Independent Music Awards is an international program that honors top-ranked independent artists and releases in more than 80 Album, Song, EP, Producer, Music Video and Design categories. The program receives submissions from previous major-label artists as well as self-released and indie label talent from more than 94 countries on 6 continents.
Faced against competition such as Caravan Palace, Courteeners, Sunset Sons and Wolf Alice, the idol group triumphed following previous UK appearances at London’s Wembley Arena in April and at Download Festival 2016 in June.
“The UK for us has always felt like our second home since the first time we performed at a festival here over two years ago,” said Babymetal’s Su-Metal. “Thanks AIM for recognising Babymetal and to the fans for voting for us. We are more assured now that we can continue to stay true to ourselves as Babymetal.”
The idol trio will return to the UK later this year as support for Red Hot Chili Peppers’ run of shows across the country.
