Over the past few days, we’ve been looking back on the year end charts for the years that were covered in the 2017 editions of Oricon Flashback. We end with 2012.
FUJI TV aired live “Johnnys Countdown 2017 – 2018” held last night at the Tokyo Dome, hosted by TOKIO’s Kokubun Taichi and V6’s Inohara Yoshihiko.
The groups perform the usual group shuffle medley, member shuffle medley and group medley. Arashi sprinted to the Dome after their Kohaku gig, without Ninomiya, who was represented by an army of ‘Nino masks’. KinKi Kids made a live relay from Kyocera Dome with their performances accompanied by an orchestra. NEWS did a 15th anniversary medley and as reported, KAT-TUN announced their comeback during the Countdown and performed their new song “Ask Yourself”.
On December 30, the 59th Japan Record Awards were held. Nogizaka46 took home the top prize of the night for their song “Influencer”, beating off competition from the likes of Daichi Miura, Keyakizaka46, AI, Nishino Kana, AKB48, AAA, and SEKAI NO OWARI.
Tsubaki Factory took home the award for Best New Artist, besting Nakazawa Takuya, NOBU, and UNIONE.
The show featured performances from the acts named above as well as performances by others such as Seiko Matsuda, Leo Ieiri, Hideaki Tokunaga, and Yuzu. Check out the full show after the jump!
KAT-TUN is back in 2018! The group is ending their charging period which started on May 2016 and will ‘restart’ in 2018 with the theme song to member Kamenashi Kazuya’s drama “FINAL CUT” titled “Ask Yourself”. In addition to that, the group will be holding Tokyo Dome performances in April.
