TV Tokyo Music Festival 2018 Live Stream and Chat

At 5:55 PM JST on June 27, TV Tokyo Music Festival 2018 will air. There will be peformances by the likes of V6, Ken Hirai, Morning Musume. ’18, Mika Nakashima, KAT-TUN, hitomi, Koda Kumi, King & Prince, and Morning Musume. OG. The third and final set of performers was announced earlier today and it consists of Ami Suzuki and Beverly.

Oricon reveal their Mid-Year Charts for 2018

Today statistics-tracking company Oricon Inc. published its mid-year report, which reveals all of the sales data that it has collected for the first half of the year 2018.  This includes the top earning acts during the period (December 12th, 2017-June 12th, 2018), as well as the cumulative Single, Album, Digital Single, Digital Album, Music DVD, and Music Blu-ray charts.

At the half-year mark, the top earner is popular idol group Nogizaka46, with ¥5,600,000,000 grossed so far.  AKB48 currently tops both the Single chart, with “Teacher Teacher”, and the Album chart with “Bokutachi wa, Ano Hi no Yoake wo Shitteiru”.  Meanwhile, Sandaime J Soul Brothers tops the Music DVD chart with their “2016-2017 LIVE TOUR ‘METROPOLIZ'”, and Kanjani8 tops the Music Blu-ray chart with “Kanjani’s Eightertainment Jam”.  Last but not least, Kenshi Yonezu tops the Digital Single chart with “Lemon” and The Greatest Showman Soundtrack tops the Digital Album Chart.

Join Eri Morimoto of Chubbiness on her mission to learn more about football

Eri Morimoto, main vocalist of 9-member idol group Chubbiness, is a self-confessed football nerd. On Chubbiness’ official YouTube account, she has posted videos of her talking about Japanese football before. Now, as the World Cup is heating up, she has decided to learn more about foreign teams and players.

In her first video, Morimoto is answering quiz questions related to Senegalese player Sadio Mané. In the spirit of internationalism, the video is in English. Watch the video below and test your knowledge on Mané – note, however, that pausing the video after the questions may be necessary, as she doesn’t leave a lot of guessing time for viewers.

SEKAI NO OWARI to collaborate with EPIK HIGH

It has been announced that SEKAI NO OAWARI will be collaborating with the South Korean rap group EPIK HIGH.

The exciting news was shared today on EPIK HIGH and YG Family’s various social media accounts. The song will be titled “SLEEPING BEAUTY” and it will be released worldwide on June 29th, 2018.

The announcement begins with lead singer Nakajin introducing the band in English, EPIK HIGH member Tablo then goes on to say this will be the “greatest collaboration in the history of music” !
