This week’s episode of Music Station was a three hour special in celebration of TV Asahi’s 60th anniversary. This week’s guests were THE YELLOW MONKEY, Johnny’s WEST, Ai Otsuka, GENERATIONS, ORANGE RANGE, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Superfly, ZARD (as a hologram), Mai Kuraki, Nogizaka46, and Arashi.
On February 1, Mukai Taichi will release a new digital single, “Michi.” The song serves as the second ending theme for the Nippon TV anime series “Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru”, following up Taichi’s previous ending theme for the series, “Reset.”
The “Michi” digital single will also include a new version of “Break up”, a song from Taichi’s album “PURE” from last November. This new rearranged version is titled “Break up (Part2) feat.☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo).”

On February 1, KOHH will surprise release his new album, “UNTITLED.” The album will contain ten songs, including “I Want a Billion”, a collaboration with ONE OK ROCK frontman Taka. A teaser for the song’s 360° music video has now been released. The video can be experienced in full February 1 – 7 as part of the virtual reality attraction “UNLOCK EVERY DIMENTION” at Tokyo’s SHIBUYA 109. This week, Yonezu Kenshi topped the Hot 100 single chart for the sixth non-consecutive week with his single “Lemon.”
Little Glee Monster topped the Hot Album charts with their new album “FLAVA.”
Aimyon topped the Streaming Songs chart for the third consecutive week with her single “Marigold.”
Kenshi also topped the Download Songs chart for the 19th non-consecutive week with “Lemon.”
Queen topped the Download Albums chart for the fourth non-consecutive week with the the “Bohemian Rhapsody” soundtrack.
Following a fairly quiet 2018, singer/songwriter Keishi Tanaka has announced that he will be releasing both a compilation and a new studio album this year. The former, titled “CLIPS”, will be released on March 20th, while the longplay – “BREATH” – will be coming in May.
“CLIPS” will be released in a two CD package, with the first disc to contain a selection of songs from Tanaka’s first three albums, while the second will feature a series of collaborations and covers which have not yet seen physical release. Though it is uncertain if “BREATH” will include any of the songs which Tanaka has released this era, it will contain a title track (“Breath”) which has been performed at his recent live shows.

A full year after their previous release, psychedelic rock band Odotte Bakari no Kuni have revealed that they will be releasing a new studio album this Spring. Though there is little information available about this record at current – not even the title is known – the group have uploaded a PV for their new song “ghost” to YouTube.
This video, which was directed by filmmaker Tomokazu Yamada, features singer Koji Shimotsu wandering the streets of Tokyo’s Shibuya district. Asked about the music video, Shimotsu said that he wanted to convey a sense of hope as the Heisei era draws to a close – something he hopes was successful.
