Kyary Pamyu Pamyu grows a beard in MV for “Kimi ga Ii ne Kuretara”

Singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has released a brand new MV for her latest single “Kimi ga Ii ne Kuretara“. This is Kyary’s first new release in over a year, however in between that she did release a re-cut digital single called “Kizunami”. A track from her already released album “Japamyu”.

It’s currently serving as the theme song for the drama series “Mukai no Bazuru Kazoku” (My Family Goes Viral) starring Rio Uchida and Jun Shirasu. As usual capsule member Yasutaka Nakata provided lyrics and production for the song.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan Releases Its 2018 Year-End Report

A few weeks ago, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry announced that the Japanese music industry saw revenue growth of 3.4% in 2018. The Recording Industry Association of Japan recently released its year-end report for 2018, going more into detail about the state of the industry over the course of last year.

In 2018, the revenue of the physical market, which includes CDs, vinyl, DVD, and Blu-rays, increased by 4% over the previous year to 240.3 billion yen. This was the first time in three years that there were consecutive years of growth. However, 2018 also saw a 4% decline in the number of units produced compared to the previous year, totalling 194.63 million units.

The digital market’s revenue increased by 13% compared to 2017, totalling 64.5 billion yen. This was the fifth consecutive year of growth and marked the first time in seven years that this segment topped 60 billion yen.

Together, the physical and digital markets saw an increase of 5% over the previous year, totalling 304.8 billion yen. 2015 was the last time the industry saw consecutive years of growth and was also the last time the market’s value topped 300 billion yen.

Genie High Goes to the Bathhouse for “Genie High Rhapsody”

On May 8, Genie High will release a new digital single, “Genie High Rhapsody.” The song was written, composed, and arranged by band member Kawatani Enon. PARKGOLF also had a hand in the song’s production. “Genie High Rhapsody” features all of the members of Genie High rapping, similar to their song from last year, “Genie High no Theme.” The music video for the song, which was shot in a batthouse, can be found below!

Kis-My-Ft2 topped the Hot Albuma chart with their new album “FREE HUGS!”

Aimyon topped the Streaming Songs chart for the 17th consecutive week with her single “Marigold.”

LiSA topped the Download Songs chart with her single “Gurenge.”

Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- topped the Download Albums chart with their debut album “Hypnosis Mic Enter the Hypnosis Microphone.”

Johnny & Associates opens online shop

Talent agency Johnny & Associates is slowly making their way into the 21st century! The popular idol creator has finally opened up their very own online shop, taking that one step closer to embracing the internet.

Simply titled “Johnny’s Online Store” business officially began on May 6th. Fans are able to purchase photo cards from live concerts/events and photo shoots. Every active Johnny’s group has photos available, including Hey! Say! JUMP, Arashi, SEXY ZONE, V6, NEWS, and KAT-TUN.
