YOSHIKI’s first photobook in 28 years “XY” hits #1 on Oricon

On November 20th X JAPAN’s leader YOSHIKI released his first photobook in 28 years titled “XY“. Officially described as an “high-art photobook” XY also comes with a DVD housed in a custom cosmetics case, promising to showcase a YOSHIKI like you’ve never seen him before.

XY topped Oricon’s photobook charts with roughly 6k units sold for the week. Photographed by Melanie Pullen, YOSHIKI can be seen wearing various cutting-edge fashion amidst dreamlike settings. Considered a style icon by many, it’s no surprise that played a big role in this photobook.

YOSHIKI was the first man to ever appear on the cover of VOGUE Japan, and he worked with stylist Santa Bevacqua (Vogue, GQ, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar) for the looks featured in the photobook. A behind the scenes gaze at the shooting for XY was uploaded to Yoshiki’s official YouTube page. Check out the video, along with preview photos from XY below!
