Japan Box Office Ranking (Week of Mar 19 – 20)

Doraemon Movie 36: Nobita and the Birth of Japan tops the box office chart for the 3rd straight week. Boku Dake ga Inai Machi starring Fujiwara Tatsuya and Arimura Kasumi makes its entry at no. 2. Pixar movie The Good Dinosaur completes the top 3.

Doraemon Movie 36: Nobita and the Birth of Japan has topped the box office charts for 3 straight weeks. It attracted 347,137 viewers last weekend and generated 399,929,400 Yen, making it the most popular animated movie this Spring. The movie also broke past the 2 billion Yen mark.

In 2nd place is the sci-fi mystery live action film adaptation Boku Dake ga Inai Machi starring Fujiwara Tatsuya and Arimura Kasumi. Shown in over 329 screens, the movie mobilized 169,500 people and generated 221,706,200 Yen. It looks forward to breaking 1.5 billion Yen.

The first of the 2-part Chihayafuru movies, Chihayafuru: Kaminoku starring Hirose Suzu opened at no. 4. The movie was published in 298 screens, attracted 146,299 people and generated 179,018,300 Yen. This is the first movie starring Hirose.

Precure All Stars Movie: Minna de Utau: Kiseki no Mahou opened at 6th place. The movie opened in 213 screens, mobilized 116,015 people and earned 133,508,200 Yen.

Tenshi ni I’m Fine opened at no.9. The movie was published in over 86 screens. During the opening weekend, it earned 57,930,300 Yen, and attracted 42,295 viewers.
