The Recording Industry Association Of Japan releases its digital certifications for June

We’re going to start off with a little background first. The Recording Industry Of Japan updates its certifications for digital songs monthly. The certifications are for the previous month. So this month, they released June’s certifications. Next month, they’ll release this month’s certifications. The certifications are as follows: Million (1 million), Triple Platinum (750,000) Double Platinum (500,000), Platinum (250,000), and Gold (100,000).

Some songs are certified in a timely manner while others are certified kinda randomly. I’m not sure why this is. On January 1 of this year, there was a change. Chaku-Uta Full (Japanese feature phone downloads) and PC downloads (computer downloads) were combined, most likely due to the demise of the Japanese feature phone market in light of the rise of smartphones. This also explains why there hasn’t been any Chaku-Uta (ringtone) certifications as of late.
