Ryoko Hirosue & Mariya Takeuchi reunite 23 years later for “Kimi no Smile”

The animated MV for Ryoko Hirosue‘s track “Kimi no Smile” has been uploaded on YouTube, the track was written and composed by the legendary Mariya Takeuchi.

This is the first time the two have worked together since Ryoko’s very cute debut single “Maji de Koi Suru 5you Mae” released back in April 1997. The song was an instant succus for Ryoko, debuting at #2 on Oricon and selling almost 600k copies.

“Kimi no Smile” could be heard for the first time in December 2020 via the NHK drama series “Minna no Uta”. The MV released today features illustrations depicting a young girl who is hospitalized, showcasing the added stress of dealing with all while also combatting COVID-19. Check out the full MV below!

Ryoko stated that the MV made made her feel so emotional that she cried! She hopes this song helps while everyone is getting through this difficult time together, “laughter is the best medicine”.
