On September 14, long-running idol group Morning Musume ’17 will turn 20 years old—older than most of the members in the group!

To celebrate their 20th anniversary as the idol institution, the group will hold a live event to commemorate their formation at Shinkiba STUDIO COAST.

Fans are able to vote for their favorite songs they want to see performed at the event, with the ability to request which combination of Morning Musume ’17 members they want to perform the requested songs.

Voting ends August 14, and general ticket sales start August 19.

Morning Musume ’17 is the flagship group of the Hello! Project idol management umbrella. The group was formed in 1997 on the talent show “ASAYAN” and quickly became one of Japan’s top girl groups with a number of hit records and albums. Throughout their tenure, the group has put out 14 original albums and 63 singles—selling well over 22 million units.

Following this event, Morning Musume ’17 will embark on their 18-date 32-show fall concert tour “Morning Musume Tanjou 20 Shuunen Kinen Concert Tour 2017 Aki ~We are MORNING MUSUME~” through December. The tour will conclude with the graduation of 10th generation member Haruka Kudo, who will exit from Morning Musume and Hello! Project on the final date.
