#1 Song Review: Week of 7/6 – 7/12 (Kanjani8 v. Naoto Inti Raymi)

Hello, Arama! Japan readers and welcome to this week’s installment of #1 Song Review! Last week saw GENERATIONS defeat Kuwata Keisuke and SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]. This week, we have 2 newcomers facing off! Find out what various staff members thought of the songs that topped the physical and digital charts this week and share your thoughts on them too!

Oricon #1: Kanjani8 – Tsumi to Natsu (not released digitally)

Ronald: I take this song for what it is: a light piece of summer fun. While it’s not the best instance of this type of music, it does get the job done. Kanjani8 is supposed to be humorous, but I’m not a fan of their humor. I’d rather listen to one of their band songs than their pop stuff such as this. And I just feel as if Hey! Say! JUMP handled the light summer fun song much better with “Maji SUNSHINE.” 5/10

Recochoku #1 / iTunes #1: Naoto Inti Raymi – Overflows ~Kotoba ni Dekinakute~ (Oricon #6)

Ronald: Naoto Inti Raymi is back with another piece of sentimental fodder to sell soap or something. Honestly, I’m really bored by this. He has had much better songs in the past, but now all it seems he does is various iterations of this song, with videos featuring random high schoolers, and I’m not here for it. 3.5/10
