#1 Song Review: Week of 12/10 – 12/16

Hello AramaJapan readers and welcome to this week’s installment of #1 Song Review! Last week saw Kanjani8 come out on top of Che’Nelle. This week we have two new acts! Find out what various staff members thought of the songs that topped the physical and digital charts this week and share your thoughts on them too!

Oricon: SKE48 – 12gatsu no Kangaroo (Recochoku #11 / didn’t appear in the iTunes top 10 all week)

Ronald: Same old cheery, happy crap you get from any group like this. The difference is that this one has winter bells in the background to suit the holiday season. It’s still not enough to make it distinctive. I feel as if I’ve heard this song a million times before. 0/10

Recochoku / iTunes: Sandaime J Soul Brothers – O.R.I.O.N. (Oricon #2)

Ronald: Speaking of having heard songs before, here is Sandaime J Soul Brothers with a weaker copy of their summer hit “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” I loved “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” but I don’t love this. To be honest, I want Sandaime J Soul Brothers to want better for themselves. Stop making songs that sound like weaker versions of your older, superior songs. Like stop making inferior “Hanabi” clones because you want another song like that. And don’t make inferior “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” clones like this again. I liked Sandaime J Soul Brothers before but like their elder group EXILE, I’ve grown tired of them as the years go on. They changed their sound into something that doesn’t really mesh well with my tastes. 3.5/10
