NMB48 Sutou Ririka shocked many as she announced her engagement during her General Election speech. Nothing much is clear but management says she will be explaining the details in the near future. About an hour after her announcement, Shukan Bunshun reported that she’s dating someone from the medical related industry.

“NMB48 Sutou Ririka shocked many as she announced her engagement during her General Election speech.” so much for their dating ban lol.

      • sousenkyo9th

I`m really surprised when I heard it. I even thinking I heard it wrong or it`s another meaning of `kekkon`
I just realize I didn`t get it wrong because everyone said congratulations

        • Ol

Here’s a subbed version of her speech

“I see myself as a human first”

      • AkaneHaga

Erina Mano looklike now gone must find other then

      • toak

Legendary! She was always subversive and set out her goals to fuck shit up as a draftee, and she delivered in one of the big moments in j-pop history.

Grats’ to Sasshi who’s just crusing on a completely different level from everyone else. Now she’s retiring from SSK without being close to being touched as top dog, on top of also having like ten different careers available to her (and still not graduating from the group).

      • Mal

What is this I heard about it being an arranged-marriage? Something she said about yet to meet that person?

Good for her though for having guts going against the system. Love-ban is an idiotic thing.

        • PigeonPop

I love it. There’s not a lot of merit adhering to it anyway, not to mention rather unhealthy for both parties (the idol and the fans). Sashihara fan threads are really interesting to look at in that regard, because the atmosphere there is markedly different.

        • Owari Konoyono

I certainly think that banning love is weird.
However, I think that there are few male fans who vote for members having boyfriends.

      • Reileen

read there’s lots of shades thrown at her by the other girls in their speeches lol Queen

      • DoSHachiko

The reactions for NMB vs AKB were actually quite funny when they heard Ririka announce it.
        https://twitter.com/kyochan1985/status/876023462086586368

Sayaka apparently didn’t know WTF was going on during the announcement, while she was streaming on Showroom. (She was watching with Kinoshita(?) Momoka, who was in the background.)

        • Nya

I love how everybody was s h o o k and the NMB girls LOLing and saying congratulations XD

        • Owari Konoyono

Mayuyu expresses that “It is a story after graduating from the group.”
Yui says “There is a troublesome thing to happen.”
Everyone at NMB is “a funny girl is!”

        • Kari

Mayu’s expression says it all… like wtf was that.

        • WorldGN18

          I just love Mayuyu’s expression <3

      • Owari Konoyono

I think that he wanted to announce it sooner.
However, I think that it became this timing because it affects CD sales.

    • AKB

I never understood how they guarantee the legitimacy of the results. How can the fans know they are true? How do people know there aren’t tickets bought from sponsors for some reason? I’m talking about advertisement and such, they buy a couple thousand copies to guarantee a good spot.

      • toak

A law firm oversees the voting process.

        • LowkeySavage

Damn…going through the hell that is law school..sleepless, coffee fueled nights studying/analyzing endless amounts of documents just to graduate and have to oversee idol crap…lol.

    • maguro part deux

      Poor Hana Matsuoka. :-(

    • Guest

I think this chick is badass for ignoring the ridiculous dating ban. More power to her.

Anyway, with Mayu Watanabe gone and Rino Sashihara stopping to take part in elections, is there any AKB girl that still has mainstream fame and isn’t known solely by otas?

      • WorldGN18

I would say Yukirin, Sayanee and Jurina

    • Diego

Most boring sousenkyou ever… It was a foregone result that Sashihara would get #1 once again. Many girls entered senbatsu because of the weak competition. As for Mayuyu’s graduation I think we all see it coming so no big surprise.

Girls are getting tired of these elections (big names such as Yukirin, Sayanee, Tomu and Haruppi haven’t participated this year) so I’d like management to cancel sousenkyou but I guess since wotas keep spending lots of money to vote they will continue with it.

      • LouSak

Don’t know about Tomu, but the other girls have their reasons.
        Reasons:
        -Haruppi: Health issues.
-Sayanee: Have a nice career outside of 48G that elections don’t matter to her anymore. It’s possible that she might retire from the group in the near future.
-Yukirin: Her drop in ranking from last election most likely due to scandal. She also have a career outside 48G. Plus, she seems to be finishing up her time in the group.

      • Owari Konoyono

Tomu said he wanted to skill up.
She went to graduate school and there are dreams of weather forecasters.
Her skill up may be about school work.

    • surfboardt

Sasshi is #1 again? Must be a day that ends with y, but I live for her success post-scandal.

    • lol

Oshima Yuko did a insta live and had this to say about Sutou…

      https://twitter.com/Nyarodai/status/876077062523461632

      • ol

        Ugh Miss “surprised-graduation-announcement-@kohaku”.

      • ugh

        what a dumbass.

      • shirogane

        jesus so classy….

      • Owari Konoyono

She would have never done such a thing if she succeeded as an actress.
I guess she is still dragging the glory of AKB.

    • Rika

Woah, Ririka announcing her engagement – awesome! The dating ban is so ridiculous anyway.

The girls throwing shade and shame at her though… not cute. And I always liked Juri btw. But… nope… I don’t approve >>

      • shirogane

it’s really too early to start throwing shade right there when they have no idea if it’s a joke or not. Not a lot of the older girls talked about it and it only highlights how rash and young Juri and Nana are.

    • Nya
      • Owari Konoyono

Certainly, thanks to her, the speech of the members of the 19th place and over has been shadowed. The interest became just her engagement more than the result of the general election.

        • ol

The whole thing was bland and predictable anyway. The stupid love ban needs a big flip & kudos to her for doing it in a big way.
At least she’s no Oshima Yuko level rude.

          • Owari Konoyono

Haruna of the former member made a comment “I thought someone will do someday.”
Kaori of former Morning Musume announced marriage and pregnancy to fans on her bus tour of the day after the day she announced to.the press.
Surely it may be as bland and predictable thing.

            • Ol

So? Who cares about the momosu girl lol.
Bunshun was about to expose their relationship anyways so riripon unloading it now gives her the upper hand. Good decision on her part.
I love that she clearly said she wanted to keep being honest so there’s really no point to hide the fact that she’s accepted a marriage proposal. She chose to be a human instead of an idol. Fans and the naysayers are just being a bunch of pricks.

    • Ririka got me smiling ear to ear! Congrats to you, girl!!! XD

    • JSBLove

Nooo Mayuyu… ),: I’m going to miss her so much… *cries*

argh.. isn’t it too early for Ririka to think about marriage? I think she is just about 20, its like entering into an awesome youth stage.

if she just want to break the love-ban and try to become badass, I think dating is more appropriate for her age. more realistic, tho.. who knows. I just need fast updates

those idols whose above 30 cant married while just 20s are hurried in love.
      irony.

      • Yuko

I don’t know much but I read somewhere that last year she mentioned thinking on leave the group because her mother was not doing good with cancer… if that’s the case it’s a possible reason she is hurrying with marriage, sounds like a dorama xD but it’s a possibility.

        • ol

A person having their mother dying of cancer is not entertaining

I’m only interested in Sasshi as a variety tarento and don’t pay attention much to the 48 groups, but good for her for winning again, as she’s the one that seems to have the general public’s attention. If only she’ll graduate too and focus on variety more. I like more women MCs on TV and she has the skills.

    • WorldGN18

Congratz Sasshi!! feeling really sad about Mayuyu graduating, and it seems like Sayanee and Sasshi will follow her soon, if that happens then all the girls I care about would be gone, I have never been an AKB fan but that makes me sad, I don’t care too much about Ririka though, I don’t think it was the best moment to announce that, it feels like a slap in the face for her fans so I don’t get why everyone is treating her like a heroine but oh well, just wish her the best, hope the guy is worth it

      • Ol

Because we aren’t fan of 48 hype driven by voting sales gimmick in the first place + the love ban is stupid
