Viral star Piko-Taro is ready to release his 25-song debut album “PPAP”

From breaking into the US Singles Charts to appearing in Sesame Street, renowned singer-songwriter and timeless pop icon Piko-Taro has surely been what we can call a viral sensation. Now, he is set to bless the people with his first CD after several digital singles! Titled “PPAP” and with December 7th as release date, this album will feature 25 songs whose themes vary from the drama of having a new Russian step-mother to the joy of being able to see darker with a pair of sunglasses, without forgetting the touching tale of a man with the obsession of sticking fruit and pens together.

As it’s usual in the Japanese market, the release will come in two editions: a regular CD-only edition and a limited CD+DVD edition. The DVD will feature 20 music videos plus 4 pieces of special footage, and the first press of it will feature special bonuses such as an apron resembling his costume and Piko-Taro stickers. This announcement comes just four days after the release of his newest creation, “Futamojime Mistake”, an exquisite, linguistic experimental track which skillfully develops into EDM in the second part. Check all the info about the release and his newest clip just after the jump!

Honestly, I’m happy for this guy. I don’t think he was doing very well financially before his shot to fame with PPAP and now he’s working his butt off to milk that fame. So.. go him. haha.

    • Those album covers still be looking better than E-girls’ tho, take notes LDH.

      • xameix

Ldh has some if the cheapest copy paste album covers for their artists. Too bad they don’t put as much effort into their album covers as much as they spend on their mvs.

    • Summerlights

strike while the iron is hot lmao good for him, though i wonder if people will really buy it

    • Deep River

      he can keep it

    • starlightshimmers

His dedication is great I hope he finds a niche audience that will form his strong fan base.

But I hope he doesn’t turn into the Western representative of J-pop, like Kyary. We need people in the West to recognise that Japanese people are normal people, not people who are high on radioactive waste or something.

      • xameix

What about kyu sakamoto? At least be happy that he was the first asian and only japanese artist to hit #1 on u.s. billboard chart for the music and not just as a comic relief gag.

    • Do-tell

      FXXK. No. Bro.

    • Debby

Good for him. He’s not delusional and knows this is just his viral moment so MILK IT WHILE IT LAST.

    • faifantc

A welcome addition to any westerner’s xenophobe tome on Japan.
