Oricon Introduces Its New Combined and Streaming Charts

A few months ago, Oricon announced that it was keeping up with the times and creating new charts. These new charts would be a combined single chart, a combined album chart, and a streaming chart. Those charts were introduced today.

The combined single chart will count CD singles, single song downloads, download single bundles (as in A-sides and other coupling tracks), and streams, using a point system. A CD single will count for one point, 2.5 single song downloads for one point, one download single bundle for one point, and 300 streams for one point.

The combined album chart will count CD albums, download album bundles (as in full albums), and streams, also using a point system. A CD album will count for one point, a download album bundle for one point, and 1,440 streams for one point.

The points for both charts will be revealed.

The number of streams will also be revealed in the streaming chart.

After this initial post, the three new charts will be included with the other Oricon charts.

With that being said, SKE48 topped the combined single chart with “Stand by you”, with 234,898 points. RADWIMPS topped the combined album chart with “ANTI ANTI GENERATION”, with 91,435 points. Aimyon topped the streaming chart with “Konya Kono Mama” with 1,539,441 streams.

THE YELLOW MONKEY to release their first new Studio Album in nearly 20 Years

Fully 19 years after the release of their previous studio album, “8”, alternative rock band THE YELLOW MONKEY have just announced that they will be releasing a new full-length record next year on April 17th.  Titled “9999” (“Four Nine”), this album will include the group’s previously released tracks “ALRIGHT”, “Suna no Tou”, “Roseana”, “Stars”, “Horizon”, and “Tentoumushi”, as well as a number of new songs.  The record is currently intended to be issued in two versions, with the contents of the DVD packaged with the Limited Edition to be revealed at a later date.

Additionally, the group have confirmed that new song “I don’t know” – which will be included on the album – has been picked up as the theme song for upcoming TV Asahi drama “Keiji Zero”.  The track is based around the theme of ‘memories’, and how their weight can fluctuate as the years go by.  Following the record’s release, the band will be embarking on their “THE YELLOW MONKEY SUPER JAPAN TOUR 2019″from April through September.

Though information about “9999” is currently sparse, you can find PV for the group’s most recent release “Tentoumushi” if you read on below.
