Happy Pride! We’re back with another episode of the Arama! Japan Podcast! This episode is a special Pride episode that features a discussion on Dr. Thomas Baudinette‘s book “Regimes of Desire: Young Gay Men, Media, and Masculinity in Tokyo.” In this episode we discussed several key points in the book including Yukio Mishima‘s lasting impact on Japanese gay men, the Japanese gay porn industry, Japanese gay men’s thoughts on Johnny & Associates, and how things are changing for LGBT people in Japan.

Arama! Japan Interviews Keito Okamoto

Starting today through July 10, Keito Okamoto will play the role of Song Liling in David Henry Hwang‘s play “M. Butterfly” at the New National Theatre Tokyo. The play will continue on to Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya in July.

I recently sat down with Keito on a video call (all in English) to discuss the play, its LGBT content, his time in New York at drama school, his departure from Hey! Say! JUMP, and more. Check out Keito’s first English language interview below!

Naniwa Danshi, Official HIGE DANdism, Aimyon, and More to Perform on “2022 FNS Kayousai Natsu”

On July 13, Fuji TV’s summer music special, “2022 FNS Kayousai Natsu”, will air. It will begin at 6:30 PM JST and end at 9:54 PM JST.

The show will be hosted by Aiba Masaki and Fuji TV announcer Nagashima Yumi, who also hosted the last two year’s editions of this show.
