Aihara Mei (Tabe Mikako) is a young career woman in her late twenties, and she is known to be one of the most capable worker in the company. MR Pharmaceuticals. However, Mai is absolutely hopeless when it comes to housework and she has zero basic life survival skills. On the night of her 28th birthday, she returned home to find a strange “uncle” wearing an apron waiting for her. In the MIU’s 4th unit are 2 detectives by the names of Ibuki Ai (Ayano Go) and Shima Kazumi (Hoshino Gen). Ibuki is an athletic guy with great reflexes, but is rash and pretty idiotic most times. He has a sharp sense of smell, but it is unsure if he can actually detect the smells in the air or he is just good at reading the situation. Having moved from one precinct to another, his longest stint was the 8 years he’s spent at one of the neighborhood police box in Okutama. Totally clueless about the job of a first responder, but yet pouring his heart and soul into his job, it is up to Shima to hold Ibuki back from his usual act-first, think-later behavior.

Shima used to be part of the MPD’s Investigation Division One (cream of the crop) but for some reason, he was transferred to the precinct’s Driving Test Center. One day, he was summoned by Kikyo Yuzuru (Aso Kumiko) to return to active duty under the MIU. Though he is well-regarded and trusted by Kikyo and Jinba Kohei (Hashimoto Jun) due to his many years as an Investigator, Shima himself trusts no one, not even himself. With his excellent observation and social skills, he tends to plan ahead rationally and logically but Ibuki often causes him to waver in his judgement.
