While still pumping out the hits for his Hello! Project groups, producer and Sharam Q vocalist Tsunku has been on a public hiatus since this March for treatment of laryngeal cancer.
On September 25th, Tsunku announced on his personal blog that his cancer treatment was a success and he is in complete remission after six months of chemotherapy and radiation.
Tsunku commented about his motivation for returning back to the music business: “Although treatment was a creative activity-centered job, my brain and body is now energetic as ever. Furthermore, I got certainty from the doctor that if I utilize this experience for the future, I can go back to ‘the one and only job’ I love so much with gratitude.”
He continues on his personal blog:
Thank you so much for your daily support.
The feeling of autumn is starting to show, so now it is becoming a relaxing season.
How are you spending your days?I am pleased to announced my cancer has gone into “complete remission”.
Since they found the laryngeal cancer this February, we have been treating it so can be fully cured.
Because it was found in its early stages, the doctors decided to do a combination of chemotherapy and radiation.
Intensive treatment went on for two months. And after six months, the doctor gave me the good news: “Your cancer went into complete remission.”
I would like to apologize for causing trouble and worrying everyone, including the fans who have been supporting me since the announcement of my illness. Although treatment was a creative activity-centered job, my brain and body is now energetic as ever. Furthermore, I got certainty from the doctor that if I utilize this experience for the future, I can go back to ‘the one and only job’ I love so much with gratitude! My voice is currently still not in good condition, so I will keep TV appearances to a minimum (singing might take some time to do again as well). Once again, I would like to thank you all for your continuous guidance and support.
