Shiggy Jr. to provide a theme song to Rumiko Takahashi’s RIN-NE Anime

It was announced in the 28th Issue of Shogakukan‘s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine that city pop outfit Shiggy Jr. will provide a song for the anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s RIN-NE (Kyokai no Rinne). The song, called Beautiful Life, will be used for the ending theme for the second season that started its run last April. Beautiful Life will also be released as the band’s 4th single, with a release date of August 24, according to its page at Universal.

The band members provided some comments on the news. Drummer Kazuma Moroishi said that he was thrilled to hear the news, being a huge fan of Rumiko Takahashi. Vocalist Tomoko Ikeda adds to this, noting that Moroishi’s smartphone wallpaper featured Kyoko, a character from Takahashi’s other work, Maison Ikkoku. Ikeda herself said that she remembers watching Inuyasha as a child.

RIN-NE 2 is currently airing on NHK-E; foreign viewers can catch it streaming on Crunchyroll and The Anime Network. The original manga by Takahashi Rumiko began serializing on 2009, and revolves around a girl named Sakura Mamiya, who is blessed with the ability to see ghost. One day, she met a shinigami called Rinne Rikudo, whose job is to guide earthbound spirits with regrets in the world to the wheel of reincarnation.
