MISIA to Perform on Kohaku Uta Gassen for the First Time in 3 Years

Today, it was announced that MISIA will be returning to Kohaku Uta Gassen. MISIA, who is known for not performing on tv, made her Kohaku debut in 2012 as part of her 15th anniversary celebration. She performed via satellite from the desert of Namibia, a country where she does charitable work.

This year, MISIA will be performing via satellite from her hometown of Nagasaki. This performance will be part of a special segment dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. Earlier this year, MISIA took part in a similar NHK music special to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki titled “Inochi no Uta.”

MISIA said that she is honored to be joining Kohaku Uta Gassen as part of this remembrance segment. She notes that even though the world is currently in chaos, she hopes 2016 will be a year of peace.
