25 years into the life of pioneering drone/doom/rock/sludge/stoner/noise/punk/occasional J-pop/whatever-they-feel-like trio, Boris, just announced their latest album- entitled “Dear“. What is most significant is that the group started writing this with the original intention of it being their last album. However, after a highly successful and invigorating world tour (still ongoing) of their seminal album “PINK” in full, Boris have come out re-invigorated and with a new sense of purpose.
This all leads to “Dear” (released July 12-14), which is a culmination of the last 25 years. Indeed, the lead single is “Absolutego“- but in true Boris’ style (throwing all convention to the wind), is not remotely similar to the 60+ minute drone track of the same name. This new track is a sludge heaven- fuzzy, chunky stoner riffs with that amazing trademark wail that only Boris can pull off. It sets a high bar for what surely is going to be one hell of an exciting record. Watch the crusty B&W music video and see album info after the gap!
