It was announced by Johnnys office that NEWS member Tegoshi Yuya will be refraining from taking part in entertainment activities. His participation in the Johnnys charity song was already canceled following a report that he went out for a drinking party in late April when the state of emergency was declared. Despite that, he attended yet another drinking party after the incident. “We take it seriously that while everyone in Japan is putting it a top priority to prevent infection spread and restraining activities, he lacked a sense of self-awareness and responsibility.” Shukan Bunshun ran a story that on May 23, Tegoshi was again seen at a bar in Roppongi with friends.
Despite repeated explanations and requests, his actions during the emergency declaration period was confirmed.“We have decided that it is unavoidable that he refrain from all entertainment activities,” the statement read. “At this time when we have to overcome the difficult situation in Japan as a whole, it is unacceptable to act against the wishes of everyone who wants to regain their normal lives.”
Johnnys apologizes “However, we could not make him understand until today, we apologize and take responsibility for his actions.”

Regarding the recent weekly magazine report, we apologize for causing concern and anxiety to all fans who support us. Above all, we apologize for his individual actions while everyone has been restraining their activities since the declaration of the state of emergency.
The report was confirmed with Tegoshi immediately after receiving the latest weekly magazine report and although there were discrepancies in content, he admitted to attending the drinking party. We take it seriously that while everyone in Japan is putting it a top priority to prevent infection spread and restraining activities, he lacked a sense of self-awareness and responsibility for the situation.
Therefore, initially, he was excluded from participating in the charity song. However, despite repeated explanations and requests from the company, he attended another drinking party during the state of emergency. We have decided that it is unavoidable to refrain from all entertainment activities. Although this will cause a great deal of inconvenience to fans and related people, at this time when we have to overcome the difficult situation in Japan as a whole, it is unacceptable to act against the wishes of everyone who wants to regain their normal lives.
This incident is due to the lack of awareness as a person and for the office which he belongs. He has been repeatedly told to be careful with his actions as he does not work for himself more than any other talent working alongside him and does not work individually. However, we could not make him understand until today, we apologize and take responsibility for his actions.
In regards to the future, we encouraged him to reflect on himself and we would like to face each other sincerely. In addition, for all the talents under our management, starting from the point they join as Johnnys Jr, we would strive to provide appropriate guidance and management in cooperation with their guardians so they can grow up well as a member of society.
