Mackenyu Arata‘s Hollywood dream is coming true! He is set to star in the American movie “Knights of the Zodiac”, a live action adaptation of Kurumada Masami‘s 80s manga / anime series “Saint Seiya.”
“Knights of the Zodiac” is being directed by the Polish animator and special effects genius Tomasz Baginski. The film is being produced by Toei Animation and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.
Mackenyu will co-star alongside Madison Iseman, Sean Bean, Famke Janssen, Nick Stahl, Diego Tinoco, and Mark Dacascos. The film recently finished production.
“Saint Seiya” told of warriors known as “The Saints” who gather their powers from the constellations. They are gathered to defend the reincarnated goddess Athena from other gods who plan to take over the Earth.
“Knights of the Zodiac” is labeled as an origin story, with Mackenyu starring as Seiya, a street orphan and the title hero of the franchise. When a mystical energy known as “Cosmo” awakens in him, Seiya embarks on a journey to conquer the ancient Greek armor of Pegasus and choose his side in a supernatural battle for the fate of Sienna (played by Madison), a young girl who struggles to control her godly powers.
