Following the announcement that manga series “Jigoku Sensei Nube” (Hell Teacher Nube) will be getting a live action drama starring Kanjani8’s Maruyama Ryuhei, more cast has been announced. Maruyama plays ‘Nube (Meisuke Nueno)’, a higschool teacher who possesses a ‘demon hand’ which he uses to protect his students when attacked by monsters and evil spirits.
Joining him are Kiritani Mirei as Takahashi Ritsuko, Hayami Mokomichi as Tamamo Kyosuke, Yamamoto Mizuki as Hazuki Izuna, and Takahashi Hideki as Jiku Mugenkai.
In a separate cast announcement, Hey! Say! JUMP‘s Chinen Yuri has been cast to play Makoto Kurita, one of Nube’s student. Makoto is a kind-hearted student who believes in UFO and monsters and have a deep knowledge in paranormal realm. On working with Maruyama, Chinen mentions he hopes to study and learn gags from him.
Yesterday, it was also announced that former KARA member Kang Jiyoung will be joining the cast as the ghost Yukime, the self-professed fiancee of Nube. This serves as her official acting debut in Japan. She commented “I will work hard so that my character can receive love.” She left KARA last April and signed with agency Sweet Power last August. She will begin her official activities starting with the 19th Tokyo Girls Collection taking place on September 6 in Saitama Super Arena.
The drama will air in October, Saturdays, 9pm at NTV.
