Hello AramaJapan readers and welcome to this week’s installment of #1 Song Review! Last week saw AKB48 come out on top against EXILE and GReeeeN. This week we have a 3 fresh entries. Find out what various staff members thought of the songs that topped the physical and digital charts this week and share your thoughts on them too!
Oricon #1: KAT-TUN – KISS KISS KISS (not released digitally)
Ronald: This isn’t so bad. It’s your typical Latin-influenced pop song. I don’t really have too much to say about this song. It’s good for what it is. The best part of the song is the bridge. It unexpected gets quite jazzy. The Latin and jazz influences of the song meld surprisingly well. 6/10

Recochoku #1: whiteeeen – Ai Uta ~since 2007~ (Oricon #16 / iTunes #2)
Ronald: This is another song that I don’t mind. It’s a GReeeeN cover. I’ve spoken before about my dislike of GReeeeN and all the shouting in their songs. Maybe I would like their songs more if someone else sang them? I can now say that this is true. I would take this over a GReeeN song any day. It has a nice, feel good quality that I surprisingly like. It’s like I can finally get what GReeeeN is trying to convey now that the annoying shouting is out of the picture. Or so I thought… GReeeeN, in all their shouting glory, does make a brief appearance in this cover. Very brief, thankfully. 6 /10

iTunes #1: Southern All Stars – Iya na Koto darake no Yononaka de (not released physically / not released on Recochoku)
The first song:
Ronald: The first thing I get from this song is the 80s. It reminds me of a song from that time, but which I can’t figure out. This isn’t really doing much for me. It’s just kinda there. It’s nice, but it lacks impact. 4/10
