The Recording Industry Association of Japan has announced the winners of this year’s edition of The Japan Gold Disc Award. These awards are based on sales from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. Arashi took the top prize, Artist Of The Year, for the second year in a row. This marks the fourth time Arashi has won Artist Of The Year. They previously won in 2010 and 2011.
Arashi’s “Japonism” won Album Of The Year, while AKB48’s “Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai” won Single Of The Year. AKB48 has won Single Of The Year 6 years in a row now. Nishino Kana’s “Torisetsu” was the most downloaded song of 2015. [Alexandros] won New Artist Of The Year, while Love Live! was given a special award.
