Last week, we announced The 2015 Arama! Japan Awards. You, the readers, selected who would be nominated for our awards show. The voting for the preliminary round was closed earlier this week and we now have the final nominees. There’s a little bit of everything here. The big nominees are Arashi, Gesu no Kiwami Otome., and Sandaime J Soul Brothers. There are some expected nominees, but also some surprises.

Voting will open now and runs until January 2. On January 3, the winners will be announced. There are more details on that to come.

The voting form is located after the jump! Voting in every category is not mandatory. If you don’t want to vote in certain category, feel free to skip it.

Nice, Tricot – A N D made it through to finals for Rock Album of the year, although with such stiff competition (ALXD was pretty awesome) I’m not sure it’ll win. Also, go Team Perfume!

PS: might want to check, one of the categories (Best Female Actor – Drama I think? sorry I mostly did it for music) has one that just says “Option 4” listed.

      • sumomona

i really wanted to vote for option 4 but i didn’t haha

        • MS

me too, but I worried it might break the whole thing!

          • If people voted for it, it would just be part of the graph I would have to ignore, LOL.

      • Thanks for pointing that out. It’s been fixed. And tricot was a pleasant surprise.

    • yacchaitai

Meh I was hoping to see more of the surprises part and less of the expected

    • nothingsover

Happy to see Tricot. Also definitely voting for Aoyama Thelma. LOVED Gray Smoke <3 And I HAVE to vote for AAA. I love NEWS but I'm frankly really shocked to see them there…

      • nothingsover

Also, I’m way too lazy to deal with voting rn tbh… I’ll do it eventually.

      • saiko

Nissy in the best male is a nice surprise too.not that i’m complaining tho^^

        • nothingsover

Yes! I was stoked to see that :D

    • Why is Life is Strange (& Max Caulfield) in here? It was made by a French studio, wasn’t it?

      • It’s Square Enix, so I guess…

        • Hasuko

Life is Strange has been developped by dontnod a FRENCH video game studio. It has just been edited by Square.. Its nomination would have been more relevant if it has been developed by a japanese studio
Nominating a western video game just because it has been edited by a japanese editor is weird and kinda off topic imho
(sorry for my english, i’m french)

    • Jo

Urgh those idol actors shouldn’t be on the list.

      • Ryusei

        Don’t be the k-netizen

        • Jo

LOL My bad. But dead fish eyed YamaPi and Yamada Ryosuke weren’t even anywhere good. They just fulfilled their roles.

    • junigatsu

Why is ayumi featured on the “Flop of the year”? She has finished two succesful tours, released two original studio albums that sold better than half (if not more) of the female vocalists active right now in the music industry. Yeah, we have Namie, Kana and a few more who sold over 100k but its not like she sold 3k. Her Dvd for the Cirque de Minuit tour sold almost 20k which is nice too. She is preparing a New countdown live, her New classical album debuted at 5. She just shooted her New pv in Taiwan and she probably still has a good budget for filming. So, how can you call her a flop? Childish attitude. There are plenty of great japanese artists active for many years who don.t have even one #1 album and they are not even once being called flop.

      • Ryusei

Agreed, She shouldn’t be in that category. She didn’t do anything that would make her a flop (tbh akb not selling a million for once doesnt put them in the flop category for me either)

        • junigatsu

And I almost forgot. A BEST got #2 on “Top 100 japanese digital albums for 2015”. And yay for Sheena Ringo being on the female artists poll. Voted for her.

      • Liz “Lizzy” Colton

Totally agree. I don’t see how “not as successful as they used to be” translates as a “flop”, in both Ayu’s case and especially AKB’s case. Now Maro, that’s a true flop. I almost feel sorry for him at this point, but then I remember the things he said about his wife and I’m over it. Lol. Yeah, Ayu didn’t sell gangbusters this year, but everything you pointed out shows that she still has a steady fan base. She’s never gonna be the early-2000s Ayu or even a mid-2000s Ayu and we shouldn’t expect anyone with a nearly 2 decade old career to be as successful as they once were. Namie’s continued success is an exception to the rule, so we can’t really compare them either. Did Ayu have a hit? No. Did she sell a ton? No. But there are many, many once popular acts that are much worse off. And why the heck is AKB48 on there anyway? WTF??

    • Reileen

Lol former King of Arama Akanishi still making it to Arama’s yearly lists
I should have nominated Mizushima Hiro for Social Media. He is sooo devoted, it is just so sweet

    • Ryusei

Choosing electronic act, album and song was so cruel for me lol capsule, tofubeats, teddyloid and suiyoubi no campanella, i wanna choose them all lol

    • Midna

Japonism for best album art? LOOL

      • val

so random lol it’s just them standing infront of a wall xd

        • Midna

I love Arashi, but come on…

Their last best album art was Popcorn. Truly a masterpiece.

          • val

yessss popcorn concept was amazing and they looked so cute with their popcorn hats

    • Yama92

Why is the electronic, rock and urban choices so difficult…. But really nice to see favourites get nominated

    • ran

      hi sasuke

    • joha

aiba is like my favorite person ever but cmon he shouldn’t be nominated for his acting it’s acceptable but not really outstanding

    • surfboardt

ngl, even though that’s the purpose of being a popularity poll, there were multiple times where I went “They could’ve recorded their bowel movement sounds and still made it for voting” or a thought of that nature. At least the increased genre categories added much needed variety though.

    • I’m really glad Luv Pandemic was on the list. Towa Tei’s album was a bit of a disappointment for me, but that track was really up amongst his best ones ever.
And I wanted to vote for JSB more, but Namie took my votes away in all the categories where she was nominated. :D

    • FrozenLand

Aww. It’s a pity Ghost Writer and Nakatani Miki didn’t make it to the nominees. Kinda expected it since it’s a non-mainstream and highly underrated drama IMO.

    • Kanjo Maru

      Hardest question was breakout artist.

      Looking forward to the results.

Have a nice Christmas and new year, Arama guys.

    • Liokt

A lot of things I suggested is among the nominees, I’m very pleased (although I think Superfly’s “WHITE” should be in the “Best Rock Album” category and back number shouldn’t be in the “Best Rock Acts” category, but that’s fine).

    • I really didn’t watch to much or listen to much so I really just picked familiar names. lol. I couldn’t help but cringe at the categories with just Johnny’s though. I’m a Johnny’s fan but man…..really ya’ll?

    • Ben

Did Ronald make this? Yawn. The elitism is strong with this one. AKB in the flop category? Okay, work.

      • light

It was made by people who voted in the preliminary round,it’s written in the first line.

    • TTT

Glad that Gesu no Kiwami Otome is up there but good God, the available choices for the anime/manga section are tragic.

    • Afnan Acchan

So happy to see “Maeda Atsuko” in best actress in a movie.

    • lmao

laughing @ the arashi for best album art. pls guys, i love them but pls.

    • Hajime Crea

How dare you include King Maro in the flop of the year category!

    • Paux

I can’t take this seriously after reading the list of nominees for almost all the pop categories and actors awards. You can already tell who’s gonna win everything. Well, at least the urban categories were on point.

    • Ntouch

KOHH for the win for his category and I’m good

    • Slashaddict

What, no Fukushi Sota in the actors list? Hm…

    • Ztf

Why there’s a category for idols? They are getting all the awards anyway.

    • kamemin23

I’m glad KAT-TUN made it to nominations especially Kamenashi Kazuya!

    • Guilherme Teruya

      What a sausage fest, jeez.
I was hoping Ringo’s album would be up for best art, but well ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      • Her album wasn’t in the running this year.

    • Alylee

I am glad AISHA made it on the list! I love her songs and voice <3

    • Liz “Lizzy” Colton
