Piko-Taro’s “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)” Debuts on the US Singles Chart

Piko-Taro’s “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)” is a viral sensation! A few days ago, it was named the most viewed music video on YouTube for the week of  9/30 – 10/6. The song has now made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100, the main singles chart for the United States.

So where did “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)” debut?

#77!

This chart’s rankings are based on radio play, online streaming, and sales. Given the viral nature of the song on YouTube, streaming is the main reason why it’s as high as it is.

Will the song go higher? Could it be the next “Gangnam Style”, which peaked at #2 on the same chart? Possibly, seeing as how Scooter Braun, who signed PSY in the US, is also the manager of Justin Bieber, the person responsible for spreading “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)” via Twitter. Is Piko-Taro’s Scooter’s new PSY?
