WIll Ayu ever reach #1 again?

      • Ryusei

The question is more: does she have to? Or who even expects that of her anymore?

        • Ben

She doesn’t. I do. When she was at her peak, she was on “Hikki” “Namie” level. Namie was able to bounce back from her “Style” area.

Hikki may not sell as much as she used to but she still at the top with her new album.

So, yeah I do expect Ayu to bounce back but she’s been flopping HARD after she came back from her hiatus, it doesn’t look like she will

        What’s the point? Oricon’s a joke now.

        • Ben

Doesn’t have to be on Oricon. Just popularity in general. Namie hasn’t reached #1 on Oricon in a while but she’s still somewhere in “the top”

          • circe154

I could see her getting a number one on renchoku or itunes again, she still does decently there, but Oricon no.

Jewel is still one of the most expensive Jpop video ever made, and one of the most expensive period. My Name’s Woman (also by Ayu) is the most expensive.

Ayu is the only Japanese artist on the list.

I read that a few years back. I was surprised. I mean the PV is nice and all but I never thought they would use real diamonds

      • Thomas

According to the link you posted, fairyland is the most expensive video by a Japanese artist and MNW is #2

        • circe154

Actually they’re tied, both cost US $2million. That house burning down in Fairyland isn’t CG.

          • Thomas

$2 million seems really excessive lol. I mean ok the videos are impressive but I don’t think they stand out that much in Ayu’s videography unless you know the fact that they were hella expensive…

😁JEWEL is one of my favorite Ayumi Hamasaki songs and I love it and still listen to it! I also love Love Story from Namie Amuro. Namie Amuro and Ayumi Hamasaki are my favorite solo artists.😊
