Morning Musume ’15 and Shinee Top the Oricon Charts for the Week of 12/28 – 1/3

This week, Morning Musume ’15 topped the Oricon single chart with their new single “Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi / ENDLESS SKY / One and Only”, selling 143,030 copies in its first week.

Shinee topped the Oricon album chart with their new album “DxDxD”, selling 44,921 copies in its first week.

        that and they have at least 5 different editions with handshake event tickets. they’re pretty much the same as the 48s.

            oh jfc I meant their sales techniques. AKB gets shit for their sales methods and MM should too. why else would an act selling 100,000 for 2-3 years now not be on kouhaku? their sales gimmicks.

              Don’t know why MM should get hate for their sales methods when they’re just following what literally every other idol group does. Their gimmicks are very normal and typical (Handshakes, Multiple editions, lottery, etc).

              They’ve never done anything crazy like bring back graduated members for a single or film a PV that makes their members look naked

        I don’t know what you mean? It WAS a triple a-side single. They’ve been doing double/triple A-side releases consecutively since 2013.

        It’s a really great single, you should check out at least Tsumetai. Fantastic song. It was also Riho’s graduation single so, that’s also probably a factor, but it’s not like MM hasn’t been selling over 100,000 for four years in a row now. They get higher with every release. They’re doing well.

          …their soundscan numbers are crap though, just look at their numbers for last year (soundscan vanished a few months ago), it’s due to the handshake event tickets (and they have a lot of those) and the number of editions. a nobody idol group sold 100,000 this time last year and they’re not “doing well”, morning musume isn’t either.

              ??? i like their music but at least I can recognize they’re not doing as well as their sales say? why else would their albums sell 20,000???

                But in the end it’s not different from other idols groups, just imagine the sells from “popular” groups if they only sell one copy and just one edition, the amizing sales they have wouldn’t be that impressive. And I don’t think UFA gives priority to have amizing sales, with Momosu is more important to have the group and memers to be more popular and know byt the people. The wotas will always buy the products from their favorite idol, Momosu don’t have that much anymore, that’s by UFA is giving the group another focus.

            They have handshake events too? I stopped following Momusu once Kamei graduated. I was curious why their singles suddenly sold so “well”.
