    • Question of the week: Is it just me, or does it seem like internationally the music of late 80s / early 90s isn’t really discussed? I mean you get people to talk about city pop, YMO, Seiko Matsuda, Akina Nakamori, and the like in the 70s and 80s, and then it seems like the discussion jumps to the TK boom and the rise of bands in the mid 90s.

      • M

It’s interesting because the ’89-’93 charts was the most diverse era of J-pop maybe…ever, it wasn’t oversaturated with one genre. At the top of the charts you had idols (Wink, Hikaru GENJI), male rock and folk singers (Hamada Shogo, Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi, Oda Kazumasa, TUBE, Kome Kome Club, Chage & Aska), rock bands (BOOWY, B’z, LINDBERG, T-BOLAN), female singers (Hiramatsu Eri, Hirose Kohmi, Imai Miki, Kudo Shizuka, ZARD, Ohgura Maki) and other miscellaneous J-pop acts (BB Queens, Princess Princess).

By the mid 90s, you had various oversaturating the market (TK boom, Okinawa Actors School boom, visual kei boom, female singer boom).

        • Actually that might be the very reason why there isn’t much talk about it. Because there weren’t any huge trends ruling the charts, it was more of a transitional era (a very exciting and interesting at that though). So, it is an era that’s kinda more difficult to get hooked to, it’s not like “oh, I’m into 80s idols / TK & old avex / folk rock / whatnot, let’s talk about it!”.

      • yacchaitai

mid 90s jpop easily the worst jpop ever, wish that part would be ignored instead

        • What is bad about it?

          • yacchaitai

the vocal trend back then was screechy and high pitched

      • Rictor9

Internationally.. IDK man, people around me talk about Kpop but not Jpop, at least not anymore. Back in high school we used to share Jpop concerts and CDs but I haven’t really met anyone into Jpop since 10 years ago.

      • circe154

Probably because that stuff can be harder to find online if you don’t speak Japanese, and most of the fandom got into it when the mid-90s acts were at their height or winding down and it was incredibly easy to their music and tv appearances online, and often subtitled.
Also Idollica died and took with it a great resource for information on 80s and early 90s idols.

    • JUMP

What’s up with the behavior of Japanese HSJ fans? Absolutely disgusting. Gives the fandom (and the boys, by extension) a bad name.

      • miraikuru

I keep hearing bad things about them… and this year is a 10th anniversary for the boys too…
What did they do this time?

        • JUMP

Their fans made a ruckus around Yokohama Arena, a mother reported she and her child were almost crushed by fans. They also chased after the members’ cars into the street and police had to get involved. Yahoo Japan wrote about it all which is leading to more negative press.

          • AoZora

And they are planning to cancel Yokohama Arena performance? I heard that..

            • Khooni

Kahan chali gayeen aap? Working woman busy hai lagta hai 😸

              • AoZora

                main yahin hoon :P

                • Khooni

Kaisi rahi pooja ki ‘chuttiyan’? 😸
Kaam karne walon ko aaram kahan?

                  • AoZora

Pooja nahin kiya aaj.. utna religious nahin hoon… Lekin,Maa karti hain.. I miss home now..

Aaj pehli baar acche se aaram kiya…

                    • Khooni

Oh. So you live alone? Roommates?

I’m an antitheist but I always find myself dragging my butt to religious places of worship. I like spirituality, organized religion…not so much.

So you are doing a lot of adulting , eh? Main toh choti bacchi hi theek hoon

                      • AoZora

Akeli rehati hoon….. I believe in God and spirituality but nothing specific to any religion.. But I read about all religions and yet believe in none.. Religion has its meaning I suppose but not sure where the meaning has lost, it has become more of an organization giving identity to many people and obtaining some kind of monetary and political benefits in return…

Now I think someone will bash me for this…

                      • Khooni

I think many will actually agree with you. Films like Spotlight (in America) or PK wouldn’t have been successful otherwise.

Religion is kinda irrelevant in today’s times. Esp with all these godmen like Ram Rahim, Asharam Bapu (and the Church) being embroiled in rape scandals.

                      • AoZora

Adding more godmen to the list : Nithyananda,Radhe Maa,Sant Rampal,Chandraswami,Asaram Bapu’s son Narayan Sai,

The reason why these crooks get away are listed in this article –

                        http://www.firstpost.com/india/showdown-in-hisar-courts-must-tame-godmen-like-rampal-1808529.html

                      • Khooni

I still laugh thinking about Radhe Ma frolicking around a garden(?) in her red outfit in some video that went viral 😁

I like firstpost. The writers never disappoint. That’s what you call journalism.

Talking of journalism, interesting blind here:

                        https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/guess-who/guess-who-film-director-and-young-journalist-find-love-each-other-388163

                        Somebody from Aaj Tak???

                      • AoZora

I am not sure of the Journalist. But the directors can be either of them Vikas Bahl,Anurag Kashyap,Sajid Khan,Maneesh Sharma..
Among journalist..Probably Shereen Bhan? I am not too sure..

Yesss,Firstpost has articles written from various freelance journalist and experts on various fields. So,the opinions are diverse and dont follow any set pattern/agenda of a newspaper publishing house.. I read it a lot.. Also I like the editorial and commentary section of https://www.japantimes.co.jp/ to understand international scene..

For Bollywood gossip,I read http://www.fashionscandal.com/ . Many Bollywood sites copy details from this site and post it as blind item. The author is a fashion designer working in Bollywood. Many of his designer friends leave comments which provide additional information. Nowadays he is not posting much Bollywood news, but some old articles give away bollywood related info…

pinkvilla,Missmalini, spotboye, koimoi are all Bollywood PR sites and the articles are usually posted by the PR staff of some or the other actors/directors in Bollywood.

                      • Khooni

I feel like all news channels and sites are at the mercy of Bollywood biggies.

I mean if Karan Johar can force ANURAB freakin GOSWAMI out of Times Now ….anything could happen. No journalist has a bigger name value than he does. He made the channel what it is right now. Yet Karan Mamu managed to cripple his career with a mere phone call.

                      • AoZora

He has kind of positioned himself as the one and the only face of Bollywood… One of the reasons Bollywood is increasing lacking content in its movies because GOD johar gets those ideas while doing shopping in various countries.. A two sentence idea is converted into a movie with exotic foreign locales(as though Indians cant travel abroad), unwanted and ill timed item songs which are mediocre and excessive promotions..Its not a surprise that his recent movies are under-performing at BO except Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya
*sorry for my not so good english*

                      • AoZora

Some more he is planning to launch – Jhanvi Kapoor,Ishaan Khattar,Salman Khan’s brother in law Ayush Sharma,Ananya Pandey,Aryan Khan and some more

Looking at way Alia Bhatt’s career is going(in a +ve sense),all the star parents want to launch their children through Dharma Productions..

                      • Khooni

Both the kids of SRK look exactly like him. I feel sorry for them :p

Wow. Chunky Pandey’s daughter *head spin*

The many years of sucking up to Bollywood A-listers and kissing their ass is paying off.

Ayush Sharma : totally married Arpita for love, didn’t he? It’s only a coincidence that he’s being launched by her A list brother.

Woke up to the sad news of Tom Alter’s death. RIP

    • yacchaitai

sup weebs, fall animus starting next week, what’s on your plan to watch list? I’m gonna check out mahoutsukai no yome and shokugeki no souma s3.

      • PigeonPop

Seconding Mahotsukai no Yome, and I also have medium~high expectations for the Kino no Tabi reboot, Konohana Kitan (looks like a nice mix of Hanasaku Iroha and the usual youkai fare), Just Because, and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou.

        • Khooni

I was going thru the twitter accounts of some American VAs I really like and I came across these intriguing (series of) tweets by Jill Harris, whom I know as Naho from Orange [dub]. She says she will never be in ecchi anime because it is ‘crap’. That’s pretty brave of her considering some of the highest selling Funi titles are ecchi/harem.

          https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6d89f46635be6f6d10b766388fe37df76481291931221fec636b69bc4bc95654.png

Apparently, actors and engineers have lost jobs because they refused to work on them citing moral beliefs

Which is interesting because Funimation shares their building with a Christian Fundamentalist organization.

          https://www.twitter.com/McBenefit/status/892473794652102656

When Funi recorded Panty and Stocking , they couldn’t put the name up on their door, lest it offended the Christians sauntering down the corridors.

          https://www.twitter.com/Rialisms/status/892592868673687557

If anything, I’d thought the actora would be applauded for taking a stand against echhi invasion :p

Many other voice actors and engineers to have chimed into the discussion approving of her tweets despite claiming at cons to have never been ashamed of working in harem anime. It’s all about those bills, after all.

Have similar things happened in Japan where : a seiyuu expressed discomfort in working for anime with explicit content or lost a job because of it? I assume a seiyuu is less likely to speak up *because politeness and culture*

Sorry if I ask too many questions 🙏

          • PigeonPop

Like I mentioned in a previous Open Post, I’m not familiar at all with the VA scene outside of Japan so I appreciate that you are bringing this up, Khooni.

You’re correct in that due to politeness it’s very rare for seiyus to speak up, even more so due to the fact that almost all seiyus are tied to a jimusho (some veterans work as freelancers or run their own jimusho, so that they can work on their own terms). I actually can’t think of an example off the top of my head.

For those who are not veterans, it’s a situation of absence speaking for itself. In other words, younger seiyus can tell their jimusho beforehand to not have them audition for things like ecchi fanservice shows, adult visual novels, and/or BL cds that simulate explicit content…and it’s quite obvious once you look at their filmography. Some seiyus avoid working on anime altogether, and instead primarily work on dubbing films/dramas as well as narration.

            • Khooni

I have said this before but I always love your insights into the industry. There are a lot of anime/manga sites out there but everybody is starved of a direct connection (I cannot think of the right word) to what the fans in Japan are thinking or doing.

Have you considered maybe starting a Japanese anime news/opinion blog of your own? Because you totally should. I insist 🙌

I guess you are right. The only seiyuu I am familiar with is the one with the seiyuu of Kokoro Connect.

              • PigeonPop

Weird coincidence, but Kokoro Connect ties into this. The whole scandal surrounding it and Mitsuhiro Ichiki was a huge PR disaster of course, but it actually got messier–influential matome blogs like Yaraon have spread false information to further fan the flames (I still question to this day why ANN writers even cite Yaraon over an official source).

I guess I’m not so keen on blogging about manga/anime fans in Japan because too much of it is ugly. 2ch has its moments, and this is one area where that place is at its worst (figure skating is another one, which might surprise some people). Matome blogs that curate 2ch posts and convert them into click-bait “articles” for a larger audience have made the scene drop to a new low. There’s a similar problem with video gaming too.

The sunnier side of the picture is usually restricted to Twitter and fanblogs / fan-administered BBS; I want to leave them be.
There *is* the BBS of Nico Nico Daihyakka which is refreshingly neutral ~ positive in atmosphere for the most part. I’ll consider creating an ask.fm account.

      • circe154

Osomatsu-san is back Monday and its the only thing I’m really looking forward to. I’m also planning to watch Ousama Game, Code:Realize, and Evil or Live.
Aside from Osomatsu-san, I’m more looking forward to winter when we get the Junji Ito anime and new CCS.

    • HyperMoot .

Watch of the week: Tomodachi (2014). Stumbled upon this recently. The synopsis intrigued me and I read the director Mikihiro Endo attended the Tokyo University of the Arts where he studied under Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

Shimada, a failed actor with very little prospects and a laughable resume finds work in a weird company. There he has to impersonate people according to the wishes of the customers. One day he has to ‘play’ for a teen girl who wants him to be her accomplice in a terrorist attack. Low budget and it sometimes shows, it’s nevertheless a very entertaining, somewhat moving and definitely clever little flick.

Rewatch: Evergreen love (2016). Some easy cheesy topic and script and Takanori Iwata, who expectedly is kind of ouch throughout the movie, at least for me. But, there’s someone to save the film. If you like Takahata Mitsuki, it’s a fine watch, she’s adorable as the lost, hopeful and sensitive girl. Pleasant watch, nothing less, nothing more.

      http://asianwiki.com/Evergreen_Love

To watch: phew, the list is now so big, not sure I’ll watch them all before I get real old.

      • yamakita

Takahata is another one whose career took off after Mondai no Aru Restaurant. You’ve gotta watch this drama!

        • HyperMoot .

staying away from drama, I think I’m actually missing stuff from lots of my faves

Ajin: Demi-Human movie releases today.. I wish I could fly to Japan to watch it… The reviews are positive too

      Read review –

    • AoZora

This week watched two movies –
      1. Tada, Kimi Wo Aishiteru: Starring Tamaki Hiroshi and Miyazaki Aoi. It was a good watch and i liked acting of both the leads. This love story has bitter sweet end as with many Japanese love stories.. There is a girl with an illness and they is a guy who is too shy and withdrawn to socialize. Love blossoms between these two..

      2. P to JK: Starring Kamenashi Kazuya and Tsuchiya Tao. After watching the movie,I was wondering,Why they have put those ridiculous wigs on both Kame and Tao. It doesn’t suit them at all…. Direction could have been better, many scenes looked weird with bad camera angles. Tao was trying too hard to act 16 yr old Kawaii girl..
As much as I love Kame, my request to him -please find a movie with good script and a good director… Somehow, this movie was boring….

      • HyperMoot .

I’ve watched Tada Kimi wo aisheteru several times. It’s so sad and the twist comes when you don’t expect it. Fine acting, Aoi Miyazaki is great, I’d say as usual.

    • cheng xiao’s forehead

random. do any of yall watch any japanese youtubers and if you do whos yalls faves?

      • Khooni

I am a subscriber of Rachel and Jun. Does that count?

        They make a cute couple.

        • PigeonPop

Somewhat related to Rachel and Jun–I still follow via bookmark Kanadajin3 / Mira for being the only gaikokujin jvlogger to sockpuppet on 2ch without understanding how ID mechanics work there.

          • Khooni

I’m not familiar with her. Can you explain what happened? I’m a lil afraid of clicking on her vids because she appears to be wearing a headscarf or is it a ‘normal” scarf?

I’ve seen a couple of YT channels of foreigners based in Japan but R&J are the only ones I genuinely love because they seem more real than the others. Everybody else seems to have done far too many clickbaity videos.
(Also Rachel is Texan+readhead like me so …😝)

            • Guest

Wow you’re afraid of clicking on her vids cause she’s wearing a headscarf?
Anyway, she basically said she converted to Islam. Not sure if what she’s saying is true or not.

              • Khooni

No. Because I thought she was making a mockery of the hijab that is dear to Muslims. I know for a fact that many white ppl here in the states will wear headscarfs like an accessory but still be racist as shit to Muslims, abuse Muslims in public places. If she has converted, then good for her.

            • PigeonPop

Mira’s difficult to digest; I’ll apologize in advance for the essay!

She started out with the usual life-in-Japan type videos and collaborated frequently with other similar Youtubers like Sharla in Japan. By 2013-14 there were allegations of her creating sockpuppets on Youtube and elsewhere to spread false rumors and leaking private information about other Jvloggers. Rachel was one of them, did some digging with users from a forum called Pretty Ugly Little Liars (a rather unpleasant bunch themselves if I may say so), and posted a video calling her out.

Since then most jvloggers have “taken sides” with Rachel and perhaps because of this, Mira started to post videos that were even more clickbait-ey than before. She also started to appeal to the ultra-right wing users on 2ch + YT by posting politically-charged material that were to their liking. For a while, they would barge into related threads to come to her defense alongside Mira (frequently as herself, and not as Nanashi / Anon; she would also Tweet to prove it’s really her) and her sockpuppet IDs. She didn’t know back then that 2ch is not truly anonymous–all posters are given an alphanumeric ID that can be tracked. As an additional measure against sockpuppet and trolling, some thread starters will designate the thread to enable wacchoi, which is an additional alphanumeric ID based on factors like ISP and mobile network. Wacchois can be tracked throughout all other wacchoi-enabled threads; additionally, it’s much more difficult to fool the wacchoi system through methods like IP changers and VPNs.

Unfortunately for her Japanese neocon supporters online, Mira has a habit of flip-flopping politically and uploading videos that were factually incorrect or went against their views. She eventually started to seriously consider naturalization through marriage as well. The I-want-to-be-Japanese videos in addition to her latest shtick of her supposed conversion to Islam effectively ended their support. More and more threads centered on discussing jvloggers, including Mira’s, becoming wacchoi-enabled likely played a part too; there’s far less Mira “supporters” on 2ch these days.

              • lol if someone followed her history, it’s clear that Mira woman is mentally unstable af.
that Islamic bs she does nowadays shows this the most. laughable.

              • Khooni

Thanku for your elaborate response. Don’t apologize for ‘essays’ for I write them too lol

Why is her name Mira? Is that her real name? Is she from the Middle East? She looks like your regular ‘western’ white.

                • PigeonPop

She’s Canadian and Mira is indeed her real name. She claims to be Mira Nagayama now.

                  • Khooni

And I’m also reading online that she is jealous of Rachel and she claimed that Rachel married Jun to be able to stay in Japan. Lord, what is this mess?

                    • PigeonPop

She’s one of the Youtubers that used to be targeted by Mira & co. I applaud for her quitting her tarento activities; I’ve seen her on variety shows and there were definitely moments when the editing became a little too blatant.

                    • Cato

My youtuber friend need to watch this lol. How these people aren’t getting paid hurts.

            • i don’t really watch them but i like their fake racist / Japanese superiority videos quite much, the Idiot’s Guide to xx series.
              so funny. :’D

              • Cato

                LOL. I’ve always been curious if Japanese families bath in other’s bath water? I get that they cleansed before soaking in the tub but… ^^;;;;;;;;

            • rs34

Do you mind explaining why you a lil afraid to click her videos because she’s wearing a headscarf? An honest question is greatly appreciated.

              • Khooni

I have not watched her videos yet. If what she is wearing (on some thumbnails) is a bandana or your everyday fashion accessory, I guess that’s okay. But if it’s gotta to do something with ‘appreciation’ (aka appropriation) of Muslims, I will give her shit for it esp in light of the recent spurt of violence and discrimination against actual hijab wearing Muslims in western countries. Which is the reason I didn’t want to watch them, because I’d rather remain oblivious to who she is and what she does. Makes sense?

                • rs34

Thank you so much for your answer. There are so many people who associate terrorism and the true Islamic teaching on the net nowadays and you simple statement above makes me think you are perhaps one of them. Glad you are not since I like to read your comments on this column.

                  • Khooni

I’m sorry if my initial comment upset you. I’m not against Muslim religious wear. I personally don’t get the whole hullabaloo over hijabs , burkhas and what not. It’s something Muslims care about and should have the freedom to do so. But not gonna lie….so many people will deny actual minorities to enjoy their own cultural wear and judge them for it on one hand but then go on to wear those themselves because it makes them look rebellious or edgy. It’s disgusting really. Like I could wear a headscarf and post it online right now and nobody would give a sh!t because I look like a regular white girl but when an actual Muslim does it…incoming troll posts wondering if she is hiding a bomb in her head, under that headscarf.

                    • yamakita

From the left field, in LA there are a lot of Chinese women who wear lots of sun-protective gears that border on the burka look. Sometimes I wonder if they are better off just wearing a real burka if they are so concerned about keeping their skin pale….

                      • Khooni

I don’t know if you are familiar with this term called burkini – it’s a bikini for Muslim women. It doesn’t expose an inch of the woman’s body and even hides the head. What’s wrong with it? Absolutely nothing.

But certain sections of the liberal French society started looking at it as an assault on liberal values. Why are they wearing a burkini , not a two piece? I had to take a break from France 24 this year, a channel I otherwise love, because I got too tired of people constantly debating swimsuits. Like Muslim women trying to hide their bodies will bring in terrorists and Sharia Law into Europe? Talk about an overreaction.

                    • Cato

“I’m not against Muslim religious wear. I personally don’t get the whole hullabaloo over hijabs , burkhas and what not.”
It’s not just something that Muslim care about but it’s a God given decree to cover our hair and having loose clothes over our breasts. Hijab is a way to identify ourselves as muslims and a reminder that we are part of the deen. Basically life on earth is just a test for us before our ultimate aim for jannah and part of the test is for us to faithfully follow these decrees. Some went for extra measures like wearing burqa to get extra points with God I guess.

                • Cato

As a Muslim I really don’t mind people of other beliefs wear hijab as an ‘appreciation’. Let them experience wearing it themselves.

                  • Khooni

There’s nothing wrong with respecting others’ beliefs. It’s the hypocrisy that comes along with it is what I think is wrong.

I celebrated Id this year with my Muslim boyfriend. I wore a salwar kameez, got some beautiful henna mehendi done on my hands, went to a mosque and had a grand dinner at his house. But if I were to go back to the US and openly support Trump’s Muslim ban, that would make me an effin hypocrite.

For (another) instance, I am sure Indians love it when foreigners wear saris and bindis, celebrate Indian festivals etc. etc. But Selena Gomez wearing a bindi for a music video and kpop star Lee Hyori using the Gayatri Mantra like some exotic chant is wrong. What I feel is that before we (whites or anybody else for that matter) go around claiming we appreciate [insert culture] , we need to do our homework and know what it actually means to the people who started it all.

                    • Cato

I get that and hate it too but there were certain overreaction when it comes to people donning scarfs in arama. There was a post of a group cover art that had a lot of flak and I had to come and give my 2cents. Can’t even remember who the girls were lol.

Not sure about kanadajin but I’m just going to think positively about her wearing a hijab. Praying on her sincerity.

Lowkey bored af of these gaijins living in Japan and dating Japanese people blogging about “being a gaijin in Japan” “dating a Japanese” *yawn*
Like, hasn’t it been done a gazillion times already?

              • Cato

                They have cats

              • Khooni

And the most popular videos are about dating. All these weebs probably don’t realize that the Japanese are living, breathing people not unicorns. What works for you in your own country will likely work in Japan too.

            • yamakita

I’ve watched this/ them. Hate to say this, but I totally don’t get her gushing about his looks, which makes me wonder if she knows how to judge Asian looks. On the other hand, Asians can be equally blind to Western looks. I cringe at all the gaijin “actors” they cast in dramas and movies. Exhibit A: that atrocious actress they cast in Tenno no Ryoriban. Almost ruined the entire drama for me. Most of the times they get the nationalities wrong; for example, forcing a non-English speaking Caucasian looking person to speak broken English. It goes to show how ignorant many people can be so maybe we should all little forgiving when we get it wrong.

              • Khooni

I think Jun is pretty cute 0_0
But then he says he thought Rachel looks like a model…which I don’t see?

                • yamakita

So they are both racist lol. Perfect!

        • I want to be relevant :(

Yaaas I love them and I even follow them on instagram :D

straight up from the early 00’s. i love these guys. they weren’t serious and had so many natural, unedited, awkward moments with Japanese people. :’D
you don’t really get this from professional youtubers nowadays.
too bad they didn’t make more vids than those. all time favorite!

some eye-opening, unique, great videos regarding Japan in his “How to do stuff in Japan!” playlist.
otherwise not really interesting, lags 10 years behind the others in terms of quality and content.
it’s not his full time job but he does this only for the money. oO

        Life Where I’m From
        https://www.youtube. com/channel/UCqwxJts-6yF33rupyF_DCsA
They are really good, every video of them. the quality is there the kids are kids. not too informative but really natural and easy to watch. they’ve slowed down with making vids tho.

        TkyoSam
        https://www.youtube. com/user/TkyoSam/
i think he is as much an idiot as he is fat. nevertheless, this guy is a funny one. i like that he is enjoying his time in Japan.

        :’D

        OkanoTV
        https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=cIMk8MoSplw
i like some of his older vids. he has some funny, edgy ones like the one he is trying to get laid in for money n’stuff. “Do Japanese Sex Joints Accept Foreigners?” lol
nowadays, he has gone way too professional and become boring.

        internationally ME
        https://www.youtube. com/channel/UCW_yDyDfu1bpqDNxeobW02Q

        Abroad in Japan
        https://www.youtube. com/user/cmbroad44
he’s topics are generic but i love the sarcasm that goes into them. lol
also, you can troll him hard in the comment section. :D

        That Japanese Man Yuta
        https://www.youtube. com/user/YPlusShow
i recommend avoiding every “How to find your love in Japan”, “Sexless Japan”, “Get to know Japanese women”, “What kind of foreigners Japanese women prefer” videos generally. nothing of these features the real reasons, gives explanations, they are just click baits for guys who like Japanese porn. also, why would you care what kinds of men Japanese women prefer in the first place? waste of time.
he has some of these too, so i’m not recommending those, but i recommend those that feature different topics than this. those are kinda good interview vids with actual Japanese people.

        Find Your Love in Japan
        https://www.youtube. com/channel/UCcIsxujzLRO5qY5f9buahCQ
i laugh at this Japanese guy. he’s built up his whole channel around the “How you find love in Japan” topic. he is trying way too hard regarding this. wasting his time on making useless videos.
        not recommended at all.

        Gimmeaflakeman
        https://www.youtube. com/user/Gimmeaflakeman/videos
i used to watch his vids but he’s grown old and his topics too.
        not recommended.

        Japanese Language related

native Japanese girl. Her insights regarding the language are valuable.
not too organized but great vids, targeting beginners.

I think it’s a He becoming a She. Her cover of November Rain is quite amazing. Meanwhile, YouTube suggested this who dares to show her face: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lyhWJ1UXmS0, although I have to watch more closely to see if it’s really her playing. Not entirely convinced.

People crying manly tears on social media because the Playboy founder is dead.

Now he is also an icon for women empowerment.

Dear lord, I hope all his bunnies get to attend his funeral so they could hop merrily on his grave🙌

I feel zero emotion at his passing, yo

      • yamakita

Does it make me a bad person because I yelled “Yes!” after reading this? And the fact I hope to hear about Johnny’s founder next?

        • Khooni

I’d preferred if predators like these actually lived decades of their lives behind bars, in prison. I don’t look forward to them dying out. And certainly not the celebration of their lives that happens after they will have passed on (to hell, I hope)

What female sexual liberation are people talking about? Playboy was a mag started by men, for men. I can see why female nudity (or any nudity) can be empowering . I just don’t see it here 😒

          • Cato

Feminist said he’s a supporter of abortion. I don’t buy it.

            • Khooni

This is a guy who refused to wear condoms when he had sex, chased down his widow when she refused to marry him initially, and pit all the girls against one other to fight for his attention. Plus all those hushed up rapes and pedophilic behaviour. He is also the reason why body image issues and the glorification if blonde women became a thing . How could he possibly be a feminist ally, right? He was only good at making public statements.

Non (formerly actress Rena Nounen) at the Sapporo Festival. Will follow and check what she does music wise. She sure could act (Hot Road) and visually she’s a gem imb

Hot Road was a hot mess to me, mainly because I just can’t buy that Exile guy playing a 16-year-old.

        • HyperMoot .

I watched it some time ago, I remember I liked the atmosphere and the plot, I found it more serious than other Takahiro movies and Rena Nounen pulled out a very decent perf.

Not really J-pop related unless you count their collar with various Japanese artists, but I got my tickets to see Mayday at Honda Center in Anaheim in November!!!! Saw them at LA Sports Arena in 2012 for the first time and it was one of the best concert experiences ever!!! So excited and can’t wait 😆😆😆
