Recochoku reveals its Half-Year Charts for 2017

Popular digital download platform Recochoku recently published their rankings for the first half of the year to their website.  These charts cover the period starting from January 1st through June 30th of 2017 and represent data collected from across Recochoku’s many services.

Atop the Overall Artists chart is Gen Hoshino, whose smash hit “Koi” is also #1 on the year’s Digital Single chart.  Pop-rock veterans Mr.Children make a splash with the recent release of their two digital-only Best Albums, which occupy the #1 and #2 spots on the Digital Album chart.  Finally, the Top New Artist thus far this year is pop songstress Beverly, her success powered by that of her hit drama theme “I need your love”.

  • Digital is like another world compared to Oricon. And “Otona no Okite” is the big hit of the year so far.

crazy…a platinum digital single…..for most people that they would only make around $6000 in royalties in the end. luckily i imagine they were likely offered performance fees on top of royalties.

Nishino Kana at #6 with just Pa in 2017 (which sold relatively poorly). Her old releases must have all continued to sell considerably.

  • Bubi.

Daddy Austin Mahone coming in at #36 overall! We love talent.

    • honey girl

Austin Mahone and talent do not belong together hun.

  • surfboardt

damn shame the digital sales don’t mean a whole lot on the surface. the JASRAC numbers at least speak to the number of sales. recochoku and itunes numbers are shifty. they don’t always imply what rankings make people think. for the time being, all the charts are broken. that’s why everyone picks and chooses the info they want to push in media.

if they didn’t sell as many as they wanted, they just say they got #___ on the daily or weekly charts. If they got decent numbers they say they got however many hundred thousands sales and a number ranking.

funny thing you don’t see often though, is people really pushing up their digital sales numbers. unless you hit a million, most people don’t even push that as a promotional point because it doesn’t translate to much money and its normally just one song that did well and not the albums.

cant wait til japan figures its shit out.

The chart’s servering gorgeousness. So glad Mai is having her year. Her Fantome is coming. OTN, it’s almost been a whole year and Fantome is still serving. Hikki’s new singles are going to be a hit no questions asked. Beverly and LiSA are doing THAT. Kana and Namie…

    • ProllyWild

oddly enough beverly and lisa are both performing way better in their physical cds than they are digitally. I think LiSA has only 7600 digital album sales compared to her 40,000 physical cd sales. Beverly seems to be the same. Utada is pretty much killing on both platforms since shes in the hundreds of thousands physically, and around 60,000 digitally.

    • this unnie is weird

Namie and Kana have one A-side out and managed to both rank in the top 10.

  • What

    SMAP?? I thought they don’t release digitally…

It would be nice to see the number of sales *sighs* come on recochoku..
